The Auto Club Group (ACG) provides membership, travel, insurance and financial services offerings to approximately 9 million members and customers across 11 states and 2 U.S. territories through the AAA, Meemic and Fremont brands. Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Develops pricing for current or new property/casualty insurance coverage and products. Coordinates and executes scheduled rate reviews and indications to ensure rates are adequate, not excessive or unfairly discriminatory, and internally consistent with experience. Provides complex level analysis and preparation of competitive product and rate comparison reports. Formulates and interprets complex mathematical ratemaking models using available tools. Provides consultation and clarification regarding complex actuarial and risk assessment models.

Provides recommendations for improving methods, analysis and data gathering techniques used by the actuarial team. Provides instruction in basic actuarial methods and techniques to less senior analysts. Works with Actuarial Support in gathering and verifying data for rate indications, rate revisions and special projects. Develops complex models and manipulates data for actuarial review using standard software packages. Determines relevant factors and researches suitable trend indications for analysis, providing material and oral support to recommendations made to management. Performs actuarial adjustments to meet the analysis purpose. Analyzes competitor's rate structures and coverage. Develops and prepares competitor rate manual analysis. Prepares reports, proposals, system documents and documentation as required. Takes a lead role on projects and/or assignments as required.

Preferred Qualifications

Master Degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics or related field.

Required Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics or a related field.

  • Successful completion of five or more actuarial examinations and a minimum of four or more years of experience in an actuarial environment.

  • Maintain eligibility in the Actuarial Professional Development Program following department guidelines.

Experience in four or more of the following:

  • Preparing quarterly rate indications

  • Formulating and interpreting mathematical predictive analytics models.

  • Preparing property and casualty rate filings

  • Preparing competitive product and rate comparison analysis reports

  • Pricing property and casualty insurance products

  • Completing actuarial research relating to insurance operations

Extensive experience in/with:

  • Coordination and execution of projects

  • Use of statistical tools and software applications to complete assignments

  • Preparing reports and exhibits for senior management review

  • Analysis of technical studies and data and draw sound conclusions

  • Modeling and complex quantitative analysis resulting in sound recommendations

Knowledge and Skills/Ability to:

  • Make oral presentations to business units and management

  • Represent the department on inter-department teams

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Under minimal supervision and guidance provide support for state filing and statistical reporting activities. Handle moderately complex to complex assignments. Gather, organize, analyze and interpret data for reporting and system analysis and requirements. Communicate business requirements for projects and processes based on analysis of internal and external controls. Use knowledge and experience to take a new perspective on existing solutions to resolve complex problems. Assist in developing recommendations for effective business solutions. Present recommendations for improvements to management. Interpret state file submission requirements to internal and external partners. Prepare files submissions for complex new and revised programs, non-standard forms, manual pages, and rule and rate deviations to state insurance departments and agencies. Collaborate with internal departments to gather required information for file submissions or responses to objections. Coordinate and submit all responses to insurance departments. Assist with the implementation of moderately complex plans regarding various state insurance bureaus directives and AAA National guidelines and standards. Research competitor activities and other insurance/club related topics. Research trends to explain or support statistical reporting discrepancies and/or state regulatory filing requirements. Confirm accuracy of analytical results and recommendations to management. Support complex calls from different state departments of insurance. Interpret new data calls, converting legal requirements into business operations, systems and financial protocols. Gather, review and reconcile discrepancies in reporting. Communicate requirements to the Information Technology (IT), Legal and Finance departments. Work with respective departments to develop processes to ensure that the requirements are met. Partner with the IT department to document required statistical reporting protocols. Confirm the analysis, recommendations and documentation of flow charts, diagrams and record layout requirements and appropriate systems specifications developed by department or other business areas. Conduct testing of systems to ensure quality standards are met. Provide input to secure the necessary sign-off and approvals on requirements and test cases. Consult with IT regarding coding changes that may arise due to new regulatory requirements, defects or balancing discrepancies. Serve as a functional expert by participating in and/or lead portions of projects/processes associated with state filing and/or statistical reporting initiative. Work with management, other business areas, and external vendors in safeguarding data quality and integrity. Represent the company with vendors, insurance companies, and insurance regulatory bodies/club. May provide guidance to less experienced staff and other functional areas. Maintain ongoing knowledge of emerging industry trends and processes.
