Starting Salary: $109,500 Pay Range: $97,039-$122,335
Schedule:
This position is hybrid and remote eligible for up to 40% of the time. Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm. Must be flexible to meet current and future business needs.
Purpose of Position:
This position is accountable for the effective management and support of the ongoing budget/forecast processes and to develop and implement new analysis to support these efforts. The incumbent will be the lead subject matter technical expert in terms of implementation of new accounting standards and regulatory changes. Responsibilities will also include design and implementation of internal controls to further enhance current documentation and processes in support of the growth of the credit union.
Accountabilities:
Manage the ongoing period financial budget and forecast as it relates to non-interest income/expenses
Manage the Axiom financial reporting and budgeting platform to ensure a stable environment for all users
Play a vital role in coordinating the various planning cycles
Support end users during the various planning cycles to ensure data collection is accurate
Prepare or create financial models, analyses, spreadsheet, charts and presentation that effectively presents data and analytical findings as needed
Analyze general ledger accounts in support of the planning process
Identify and recommend future enhancement to the planning process and systems
Serve as Credit Union's subject matter expert for all accounting technical matters
Monitor and assess impact of proposed accounting and regulatory changes
Lead the interpretation and implementation of new accounting standards and other relevant regulatory changes
Author and maintain technical accounting memos to document assumptions and conclusions reached related to the matter at hand
Collaborate with internal customers to ensure appropriate implementation of accounting standards and subsequent changes.
Provide information to accounting team or internal customers on emerging accounting and reporting matters that have implication on the business
Be a key stakeholder for accounting and other internal customers and provide technical accounting conclusions along with education on the accounting concepts
Develop, implement and monitor compliance with internal control framework over financial reporting
Develop and document a comprehensive internal control framework related to transactional risk and financial reporting
Develop and execute a plan for ongoing monitoring of the effectiveness of the financial reporting controls and make adjustment as necessary
Identify any financial reporting gaps and assist in the remediation
Lead and participate on corporate projects
Represents the accounting group on cross-functional projects
Lead investigation and implementation of projects for the accounting group in support of strategic initiatives
Qualifications:
BA or BS in accounting, finance, business administration or related fields required
Minimum 5 years of directly related experience
Master degree and/or CPA in lieu of years of experience
Strong knowledge of US GAAP and accounting pronouncements required.
Excellent PC Skills (Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc…); Expert Excel formula and modeling skills
Solid working knowledge of general ledger and financial planning systems; Prologue and Axiom knowledge is a plus
Self-start and work independently with limited direction and within a team
Proactive approach to problem solving, demonstrating critical thinking skills
Manage multiple concurrent deadlines, and prioritize work load while balancing speed and accuracy
Work successfully in an ambiguous environment
Build relationships with managers across the Credit Union to effectively coordinate and complete tasks in areas of responsibility
Proven ability to clearly and effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, functional and operational processes, policies, analysis and results
Demonstrated ability to research technical accounting policies and develop conclusion using discretion and judgment
Preferred Qualifications:
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified internal auditor (CIA)
Financial industry/banking experience preferred
Understanding of NCUA, SEC FINRA policies, procedures and regulation and their applicability to ESL Federal Credit Union and Subsidiaries
Project management experience.
Experience in financial planning and analysis, accounting, strategic planning with financial services industry is highly desirable. Public Accounting experience preferred.
