The Senior Accountant is responsible for financial statement preparation and consolidation, account analysis and reconciliations, cash flow analysis, budgets and forecasting, audit preparation, and internal control maintenance and regulatory reporting.   • Aid in coordinating quarterly reviews and SOX testing with internal and external auditors

  • Supply Balance Sheet account reconciliations

  • Assemble monthly consolidated P L and Balance Sheet flux analysis for management reporting

  • Administer Ad-hoc projects as necessary

  • Provide analysis on financial results (trends, performance metrics, benchmarks)

  • Engage in various department-wide initiatives

  • Dedication to continuously improve the automation of the accounting and reporting process

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Accounting, CPA credentials are preferred

  • High attention to detail

  • 3-5 years of overall general accounting experience, ideally with Big 4 experience

  • Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills

  • Ability to meet deadlines

  • Proficient in ERP systems

  • Experience in SOX control execution/documentation

  • Microsoft Excel experience

  • Familiarity with corporate performance management (CPM) and business intelligence systems required

  • Able to manage time well

  • Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities

  • Accounting experience in publicly-traded company a plus

  • Sound written and verbal communication skills

Location: South San Francisco, California Reporting Relationship: Reporting to Assistant Controller The Opportunity: The Senior Accountant will be a key contributor to several accounting, financial reporting and administrative processes. This position will work closely in collaboration with the rest of the Finance Team to complete the monthly financial close, and assist with other responsibilities during qtr-end. This position will be the primary owner for several general accounting areas, such as cash, fixed assets, prepaids and expense accruals. The position will also work with the direction of the Assistant Controller on monitoring and deriving the detailed calculations for monthly updates to the clinical study trial accruals. In addition, the position will work on other ad hoc projects and areas, such revenue recognition, when the needs arise. Partnering with the rest of the Finance Team, this position will also play an active role in performing and supporting SOX internal controls, and in completing our periodic reviews and audits by our external auditors, Ernst & Young. Professional Responsibilities: * Ensure proper accounting and reconciliation of cash and short term investments activities and month-end balances, respectively. * Ensure proper accounting for prepaids and their amortization accounting. * Maintain and transact fixed asset activities in a separate subledger system, Sage, and ensure properly accounting in and reconciliation with the CytomX main ERP system, NetSuite. * Analyze and determine accruals at month-end and qtr-end for expenses, such as legal, consulting, contract lab services, etc. * Maintain, analyze and determine proper updates to accruals and prepaid amounts for clinical study trials. * Work with Assistant Controller for proper revenue recognition accounting and analysis. * As part of the month-end close process, prepare balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, variance analysis and documentation to support performance of required SOX internal control procedures. * Comply with proper SOX internal control procedures, and support regular testing of controls as part of SOX 404 requirements * Support and interact with external auditors for the successful completion of the qtrly reviews and annual audits performed by our external auditors, Ernst & Young. * Perform ad hoc projects and/or assist other Finance Team members, as deemed necessary.
