Senior Accountant / Alpharetta GA / Hybrid
The Senior Accountant's responsibilities include maintaining financial records and reports, performing account reconciliations, assisting with budget and close processes, conducting internal audits, maintaining account payable documentation, perform payroll duties. This position will also assist the Finance Department as needed and respond to information requests by members of management and third parties (i.e., auditors, vendors, etc.).
Role and Responsibilities
Assist in the management of the monthly close
Posting of journal entries and preparations of B/S account reconciliation
Performs daily cash reconciliation and reporting
Bi-weekly and ad hoc payroll processing
Proactively identifies and communicates general ledger and accounting related issues
Research and follow up on reconciling items found during reconciliation process
Understanding of revenue recognition
Perform financial transactions consistent with accounting policies and GAAP
Preparation and maintenance of various schedules
Support both accounts payable and account receivable activities
Fully understand the P&L to scrub each month end, making GL coding updates and identifying/correcting the base issues
Support all cash functions (credit card payments, bank account management, journal entry creation)
Constantly updating existing SOPs and developing new SOPs
Involvement in special project, ad hoc reporting, and analysis
Assist in implementation of business process improvements
Develops nonstandard reports and statements
Assists in procuring information for the annual audit
Cross train in various accounting functions
Involvement with acquisitions and acquisition accounting
Solves business problems, investigate, and seeks out cost savings opportunities for the organization
Within the limits of delegated responsibility, makes day-to-day decisions concerning the accounting treatment of financial transactions
Provides financial analysis, planning and budget control
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university
Variety of experience in the fields of general accounting or comparable work experience (3-5+ years)
Month end close and B/S reconciliation experience
Payroll processing experience
Must be highly proficient in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel
Working knowledge of US GAAP
Strong general accounting skills
QuickBooks experience not required, but a plus
Knowledge of NetSuite, Oracle
Must be able to sit prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
