Job Title

Sr. Accountant


The role of Sr. Accountant within the SEC Reporting Group requires the individual to perform procedures critical to ensuring Mastercard's financial statements are accurate and complete. Certain skill sets are required for the role, including: exercising accounting judgment, professional skepticism, and an understanding and appreciation of the importance of controls.

In this role, the individual is responsible for assisting the Director of Technical Accounting - Financial Reporting to complete the quarterly filing process.


  • Financial Statement footnote completion and review process

  • Coordinate and assist in the tie out of the filing documents in multiple stages of the process

  • Liaise with Investor Relations and Internal SEC Counsel on a regular basis

  • EDGAR/XBRL filings

  • Coordinate and review the annual proxy statement and all related support

  • Maintain all files and documents for SOX controls testing of financial reporting

  • Liaise with the external and internal auditors for testing requests

  • Facilitate the internal management representation and certification process

  • Assist in accounting research as needed, especially as it relates to financial reporting and disclosures

  • Maintain knowledge of new FASB and SEC reporting rules and regulations

  • Schedule all quarterly close and pre-close meetings as well as coordinate major reporting dates and maintain the financial reporting calendar

  • Special projects as needed to support the Accounting and Financial Reporting functions

All About You:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting required and designation of Certified Public Accountant preferred

  • Experience in financial reporting and accounting at the experienced staff or senior level (public accounting experience preferred)

  • Financial reporting knowledge

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Perform accounting research to assist with special projects

  • Proficient PC skills, especially Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Hyperion, Oracle and Workiva a plus

  • Good communication skills

  • Team player and able to work independently

Responsibilities of this role include: * Leading technical project teams and coaching them to develop broad analytics skills, including improving their AI abilities * Developing new and continuously striving to improve existing predictive models and advanced statistical analyses for business problems * Helping partners understand key insights and developing action plans to address them through effective communication and persuasion * Inventing experiments, in partnership with your team, to understand human behavior and value different intervention options * Building an analytics culture by collaborating with other analytics authorities across the organization, introducing new technologies and approaches, creating a robust set of analytics tools * Building and using large-scale datasets for statistical analysis using software (e.g., R, SPSS, Python, SQL, Teradata, Azure, Hadoop, Access, Excel) * Influencing other human resources and information technology experts on future data and technology needs * Coordinating with external consultants on projects, as required Qualifications/Requirements Education and Work Experience: * Advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) in an applied quantitative or social science discipline, such as Data Science, Computer Science, Applied Statistics, I/O Psychology, Behavioral Economics, Mathematics, or Demography with an emphasis on use of advanced technologies and empirical research * Minimum of 7+ years of experience in building multi-variate statistical modeling for business use, through applying AI and approaches like linear and logistic regression * Knowledge of and experience applying AI and machine/deep learning towards topics like prediction modeling, text analytics, sentiment analysis, and/or path analysis * Strong experience managing data acquisition and organization, as required to build statistical models * Strong project management experience (in the analytics arena, preferred) * Proficiency in at least one coding or statistical software package (e.g., Java, Python, C++, R, SPSS, SAS, Stata, MATLAB, SQL, etc.) * Experience with one of Tableau, Power BI, or QlikView, as well as, Microsoft Excel, Access and PowerPoint Competencies / Behaviors: * Strong analytical skills, including the ability to effectively handle complex data sets and data integrity issues * Ability to apply deep knowledge of AI and other technologies to solve human and business problems * Agile, adaptable, and open to new ideas * Strong management skills, including providing clear direction and coaching on both technical and soft skills * Clearly, concisely and persuasively communicate complex and ground-breaking ideas to technical and non-technical audiences * Team-based working style * Intellectual curiosity and dedicated to keeping up with advances in analytics tools and approaches * Willing to experiment with different approaches and capable of applying new insights in creative ways to answer business and talent questions * High attention to detail – self-monitors all work to ensure accuracy and completeness Pepsico Purchase NY
