The role of Sr. Accountant within the SEC Reporting Group requires the individual to perform procedures critical to ensuring Mastercard's financial statements are accurate and complete. Certain skill sets are required for the role, including: exercising accounting judgment, professional skepticism, and an understanding and appreciation of the importance of controls.
In this role, the individual is responsible for assisting the Director of Technical Accounting - Financial Reporting to complete the quarterly filing process.
Financial Statement footnote completion and review process
Coordinate and assist in the tie out of the filing documents in multiple stages of the process
Liaise with Investor Relations and Internal SEC Counsel on a regular basis
Coordinate and review the annual proxy statement and all related support
Maintain all files and documents for SOX controls testing of financial reporting
Liaise with the external and internal auditors for testing requests
Facilitate the internal management representation and certification process
Assist in accounting research as needed, especially as it relates to financial reporting and disclosures
Maintain knowledge of new FASB and SEC reporting rules and regulations
Schedule all quarterly close and pre-close meetings as well as coordinate major reporting dates and maintain the financial reporting calendar
Special projects as needed to support the Accounting and Financial Reporting functions
All About You:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting required and designation of Certified Public Accountant preferred
Experience in financial reporting and accounting at the experienced staff or senior level (public accounting experience preferred)
Financial reporting knowledge
Strong analytical skills
Perform accounting research to assist with special projects
Proficient PC skills, especially Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Hyperion, Oracle and Workiva a plus
Good communication skills
Team player and able to work independently
