Sr Accountant - Fixed Assets
Accounting Operations is responsible for ensuring that the financial results of T-Mobile are accurately presented under both US GAAP and IFRS accounting standards. There are a variety of teams within Accounting Operations which provide opportunities for professional growth and development. The teams are responsible for areas such as corporate accounting, accounting policies, fixed asset & lease accounting, capitalized software & procurement accounting, supply chain accounting, equipment sales accounting, revenue accounting, and financial services accounting.
The Asset Accounting team is seeking an Senior Accountant. This position is responsible for the GAAP & IFRS accounting of Fixed Assets. This position specifically accounts for the depreciation of the fixed assets, performing accounting transactions related to construction in progress, and reconciling fixed asset accounts. In addition, this position works closely with business units to provide reporting to support various transactions as needed. The ideal candidate should have a strong foundation in operational accounting, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, demonstrated ability to gather/interpret/communicate information, and the ability to work with large volumes of data. What you'll do in your role.
Analyze large volumes of data with the ability to identify issues and trends.
Ensure accounting records, monthly accounting close activities, and variance analyses are adequately and properly prepared, maintained and explained in a timely manner.
Use accounting concepts, wide-ranging experience, analytical skills, and knowledge of industry to identify and resolve issues in creative and effective ways.
Record journal entries, reconcile accounts, and proactively create/improve processes
Ensure that effective internal controls are developed and performed.
Understand business drivers and their effect on financial results to ensure business changes are accurately reflected in the financial statements and analysis.
Proactively identify issues and process improvement opportunities; recommend solutions and work with appropriate business partners to resolve or assist with implementation. Respond to inquiries from business partners and effectively align with them to achieve business objectives.
Provide support for audits performed by internal and external auditors
Actively participate in cross-functional projects providing data suppor
Perform special projects as requested
The experience you'll bring.
5+ years of relevant accounting experience, preferably within a large company accounting environment.
Strong understanding of accounting theory and accounting systems; PeopleSoft experience a plus
Excellent interpersonal, decision-making and analytical abilities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with different levels within the organization
Strong organizational and time management skills and the ability to balance multiple projects and deliverables simultaneously with excellent quality and attention to detail.
Ability to resolve complex problems positively and professionally with minimal supervision
Proficient in Excel; Alteryx experience is preferred
Bachelor's degree in Accounting
