Job Summary:

We are seeking a senior accountant to join our team who embodies a customer service like mindset in their approach to work. The senior accountant will play a crucial role in managing financial activities, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and providing strategic insights to support decision making processes within the organization. Responsibilities include overseeing the preparation of financial statements, maintaining accounting records, and implementing internal controls. Additionally, this role will collaborate with cross-functional teams, provide guidance to the accounting analyst, and assist in a wide variety of special projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the general ledger accounts to maintain accuracy and integrity of financial records.

  • Ensures accurate and timely preparation and posting of journal entries.

  • Oversee the preparation of account analysis, reconciliations, and adjusting journal entries as part of month-end close process.

  • Prepare financial statements for month-end close.

  • Manage, direct, and support the accounting analyst regarding a range of issues.

  • Assist with the development and implementation of internal control policies and procedures to mitigate financial risks and ensure regulatory compliance.

  • Oversee maintenance of accurate and organized financial records and documentation for reference and compliance purposes.

  • Identify and implement process improvements with innovation, enhancing efficiency and effectiveness organizationally.

  • Work with the Director of Accounting to provide a clean and timely year-end reporting package to the tax department.

  • Collaborate with dept directors for creation of annual budget.

  • Manage insurance reimbursement requests and tracking of activity.

  • Work in partnership with internal and external auditors to facilitate audits.

  • Manage and lead special projects pertaining to IHI accounting, treasury, and FP&A

  • Ensure compliance with relevant complex accounting standards, laws, and regulations.

  • Responsible for managing, coaching, and leading a team of direct reports.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field.

  • Minimum five (5) years of accounting experience with progressive responsibility. Strong accounting skills and, an in-depth knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and their application to business.

  • Evidence of highly developed verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.

  • Ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously with the ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to changing priorities.

  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment with all levels of colleagues.

  • A proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.

  • Detail oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and precision in financial reporting.

  • The ability to manage a staff, coach, and evaluate performance.

  • Strong Computer skills with the ability to effectively navigate and utilize computer programs and applications essential to job duties. Experience with Oracle a plus.

  • The ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with the highest ethical standards and integrity.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • MBA or MSA

  • CPA or CMA
