RNL is adding a SQL Server DBA (Data Base Analyst). The SQL Server DBA (Data Base Analyst) is responsible for supporting mission critical applications used by external clients, including complex hosted solutions for colleges and universities built on the Microsoft Dynamics CRM development stack.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: (not limited to)
Administering SQL Server for both 2008/2012/2014 and 2008R2/2012 R2/2014 R2
Advising developers on the most efficient database designs (tables, data types, stored procedures, functions, indexing, etc.)
Managing and monitoring SQL Server databases, reporting services, integration services and analysis services
Writing and tuning SQL Server T-SQL queries
SQL Server Database planning, scaling and capacity planning
Designing tables and picking data types
Using Profiler traces and other tools to identify potential bottlenecks and poor performing queries
Applying Hotfixes and Security Patches for SQL Server
Implementing disaster recovery strategy
Performing SQL Server health checking and tuning performance using automation
Creating technical documentation
Troubleshooting SQL Server issues both independently and utilizing Microsoft Support services
Qualifications
Required:
Administration knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server 2008, 2008R2, 2012, 2012 R2, 2014, 2014 R2
Minimum 5 years of experience in administering Microsoft SQL Server and related suite of products
Minimum 1 year of T-SQL experience
Working knowledge of Windows Server 2008/2012/2014 and Windows Server 2008R2/2012R2/2014R2
Designing SWL Server physical and logical databases
Writing stored procedures
Data Transformation Services experience
SQL Server architecture, implementing, monitoring, and maintaining
Implementing SQL Server database backups and cloning SQL Server databases
Recommending technologies for meeting business and workload requirements
Participating in tool evaluation, integration and support
Excellent organizational skills and detail-oriented
Ability to interact between application developers and DBA/Database developers
Demonstrated initiative, innovation, flexibility, and ability to manage workload; achieving desired results with minimal supervision
Proficient in the English language and possess strong communication skill
Ability to maintain and work in a remote home office
Remote/virtual work environment must be free from distractions while performing the essential functions of the job and have a reliable network connection
Position predominantly includes sitting/standing for long periods of time, close vision through the use of a computer screen, extensive keyboarding, talking, hearing, and infrequent light physical effort is required (minimum of fifteen pounds)
Preferred:
Administration knowledge of MS SQL 2012 and MS SQL 2014
Experience with Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2012
Experience with other Microsoft products (highly desired) i.e.: Reporting Services, Analysis Services
Batch and Power shell programming
VMWare virtualization platform knowledge
