SQL Developer

A government agency located in Montgomery, AL is looking for a SQL Developer for an onsite 6 month contract role with a strong possibility of extension.

Pay Rate: $40-$45/hr

Work Mode: Onsite

Interview Mode: Video interviews will be conducted for those shortlisted by the client. There may be a second video or onsite interview as needed

Required Skills & Experience:

• 5 years' experience with extensive knowledge of Agile process development in .Net, MVS, and SQL.

• Working hands-on with all aspects of the System Development Life Cycle.

• Ability to document code developed by analysts.

• Experience with project development methodology and able to apply methodology in a practical manner.

• Proficiency using SQL database including SSIS.

• Create Stored Procedures, Views, Triggers, Functions, T-SQL, Indexes, Cursors, Performance Tuning, and SQL Profiler.

• Writing of complex queries using SQL.

• Participate in the on-going development and support of existing production systems, both technically and functionally.

• Work closely with other developers or analysts to ensure development meets requirements and delivers optimal performance to end users.

• Collaborate with Product Owner and SMEs to scope opportunities, identify constraints, and help mitigate risks.

• Research and adapt technical solutions based on changing business needs.

• Provide technical mentoring for team members as needed.

• Actively look for opportunities to enhance standards and improve process efficiency.

• Research, evaluate, and recommend new Internet tools and applications for use in assigned responsibilities.

• Ability to work independently.

• Develop automated tests for regression and unit testing.

• Solid written and verbal communication skills.

• Advanced knowledge in SSRS to develop reports.

Education Required:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field. Or equivalent work experience.

Job Description:

• Full proficiency in T-SQL required, as determined by the development manager.

• Create stored procedures and develop SSIS ETL packages.

• Write unit tests and thoroughly document developed code.

• Provide status updates to the Project Manager and Development Manager as requested.

• Ability to write advanced SQL commands and troubleshoot database procedures and ETL packages.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for eliciting data requirements through interviews, workshops, and documentation.

• Experience with SQL Server versions 2012 and later.

• Develop new SSIS/SSRS packages to fulfill business needs.

• Write complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and triggers.

• Independently translate business requests into queries or ad hoc reports.

• Review table structures and understand database architecture.

• Review existing stored procedures and SSIS packages to comprehend processes.
