About our team:

We are a cross-functional team of test tools and framework engineers, scientific domain experts, and dedicated, curious manual/automation engineers. We understand how multiple applications integrate with each other to provide business value. We are constantly improving our domain knowledge to aid in assessing risk and prioritization. We know what and how to test while keeping the end user interaction in sight.

Who you are:

You are an experienced software quality engineer with a passion for improving software quality and development efficiency through tools, automation, and smart testing. You are aware of current generation front- end tools and technologies and comfortable working in an agile environment. The process of detecting and fixing issues as early as possible in SDLC is exciting, challenging, and satisfying for you.

What you will do:

  • Partner with Salesforce CRM software development teams and stakeholders to ensure that the state-of-the-art applications of highly complex genetic data meet or exceed our quality standards

  • Perform integration testing and verification of multiple web applications and services for:

  • UI features

  • Web APIs

  • Backend

  • Partner with software QA teams to ideate on tooling that enables improving testing efficiency and reliability

What you bring:

  • Experience in testing Salesforce application utilizing both UI and APIs in a CI Agile environment

  • Experience in writing test strategy, test plan, and test cases; capturing test results; and resolving issues

  • 3+ years programming and debugging experience in Java and/or Python

  • 3+ years of working experience with REST or SOAP API automation testing

  • Solid experience navigating and working with relational databases via SQL

  • 3+ years of experience developing and automating tests with tools such as TestNG or Selenium WebDriver

  • 2+ years of knowledge in Git (or similar subversion), Maven (or similar tools ANT/Gradle), Jenkins (or similar tools Bamboo/TFS)

  • Familiarity with Linux environment and shell scripting

We are the development team that services the custom software needs of how Tableau runs its business. We are a fast-paced agile team of talented developers, testers and PMs that takes Tableau's business needs from concept to reality. We release our code using repeatable automated processes, support it after release and educate our end-users. We are looking for developers who are passionate about building quality software to solve real world problems that will help Tableau scale. More About Our Team * Often, we work in Salesforce using Apex (a Java-like language). Your prior knowledge of Salesforce or other CRM concepts is useful, but not necessary. * Often, we work in AWS, inside EC2 instances or in Lambdas, using Python, Javascript or PHP, and often containerized in Docker. Your prior knowledge of these concepts is useful, but not necessary. * Sometimes, we develop stand-alone applications or web services in Java or Python. Knowledge of these concepts is useful, but not necessary. * We automate our deployments using Bamboo, Git and various custom scripts. Knowledge of CI/CD concepts and proficiency in Git is very useful. Who you are * Able to demonstrate good fundamental engineering skills and understanding of core CS concepts. (e.g., Why would you write this bit of code this way vs that way? What are the different performance trade-offs of your choice? How would you refactor it to make it faster or lighter or easier to test or easier to read, etc.) * Have a BS in Computer Science or related fields, or be able to demonstrate equivalent level of knowledge. * Have 2+ years of work experience as a developer or in equally technical roles. * Comfortable in a highly collaborative environment. We work closely with one another within the team and with other teams across Tableau. Being able to work well with other technical or non-technical folks is an important quality for us. * Very comfortable expressing your thoughts in a programming language of your choice. Whichever language you prefer (we prefer Java and Python), you should be able to demonstrate proficiency in it. * Comfortable in quickly picking up a new programming languages, platforms, and tooling. We do our work in multiple languages and on multiple platforms. Ability to learn things quickly is very useful to us. * Comfortable and interested in quickly learning concepts from business domain areas. We work closely with all departments of Tableau - Customer Operations, Sales, Accounting, Marketing, etc. Ability to learn (and interest in learning about) how a fast-scaling enterprise conducts its business is very valuable. Ability to explain complex technical thoughts to non-technical folks comes in handy, too. * You are a Recruiter!
