What you will do

Learn/Assist in the installation of fire protection piping, valves and accessories for commercial and industrial application. Must be able to work alternative shifts or weekends to meet customer and/or job requirements. Must perform all duties in a safe and professional manner.

How you will do it

Assist Journey persons in the installation of wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge sprinkler systems

Maintain proper documentation for work performed

Must adhere to company safety policies and procedures

Follow verbal and written instructions

Carry/move equipment and tools weighing up to 70lbs, and be capable of performing physical labor

Perform work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions, such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment

Maintain a clean and safe work area

Have a positive attitude and the ability to learn quickly

Be enrolled in SimplexGrinnell's approved Apprenticeship Program, maintaining all requirements of the Apprenticeship Standards

What we look for

Required

Minimum of 18 years of age

High School Diploma or Equivalent

Valid Driver's License, and a dependable means of transportation to the employer's place of business and/or jobsite, and to the place where classroom job related instruction is conducted

Ability to work well with others

Be physically capable of performing the essential functions of the apprenticeship program, with or without a reasonable accommodation, and without posing a direct threat to the health at and safety of the individual or others

Must be able to communicate in English, both verbally and in written format

This technician performs field activities associated with supporting the installation, maintenance and servicing of heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems for commercial customers. Duties include: * Assist with on-site preventative maintenance, routine repair and calibration after installation. * Uses technical abilities to maintain systems. * Works in a team-based environment to share information and workload while ensuring customer satisfaction. * Must work in a safe manner on a daily basis and ensure that all safety measures are taken at all times. * Performs other duties as assigned. * Flexibility to work overtime, on-call and weekends required. Qualifications * High School diploma or GED equivalent * HVAC Trade school graduate strongly preferred achieving 3.5 GPA and excellent attendance * 1+ years in mechanical support role, some hands on HVAC experience preferred * EPA Certification- Type I & Type II or Universal Preferred * NATE certification a plus * Valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record * Ability to climb ladders * Moderate lifting (up to 90 pounds) * Complete pre-employment drug test and background check process * Technical aptitude to perform maintenance, service, and troubleshoot equipment * Excellent Customer Service Skills * Good Electrical and Mechanical Diagnostic Skills * Ability to complete repairs and required paperwork * Ability to work independently and self-schedule * Self-motivated to complete assigned tasks within time constraints * Driven to succeed and able to work with minimum supervision * Periodically 'on call' for service coverage * Local travel may be required Lennox International North Charleston SC
