Chemours is seeking a Spring 2024 Graduate Metallurgical Materials Engineer to join our growing Engineering Technology team! This position will report directly to the Engineering Technology Manager and will be located at the Chemours Discovery Hub in Newark, Delaware.
The metallurgical materials engineer will act as the first point of contact for materials related inquiries. They will work closely with plant site personnel and other members of the Engineering Technology team to provide material recommendations throughout Chemours. This will include fabrication and repair assistance, corrosion and welding evaluations, material selection, equipment design, and failure analysis. This position will support both US and international Chemours plant sites across multiple business units.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Providing consulting services in metallurgical engineering and related technologies to Chemours global businesses, including technical support to plant operations and capital projects.
Initiating and completing thorough materials studies which include corrosion, mechanical, and/or metallographic testing that have direct impact on the various Chemours businesses
Investigating failed components, metallographic preparation, microstructure interpretation, analyzing data, and problem solving using a scientific approach
Assisting in materials selection of chemical process industry equipment including, but not limited to, pressure vessels, piping, tubing, and valves
Providing guidance on fabrication and repair techniques as well as inspection and condition assessments of existing equipment
Networking with company resources and cross-functional teams to achieve timely solutions to business problems
Providing technical recommendations and performing all job duties while adhering to and embodying Chemours Safety Obsession and other Core Values
Working closely with plant personnel to understand various chemical processes, potential failure mechanisms, and inspection techniques
Traveling to plant sites and fabrication shops for face-to-face interactions (approximately 25%)
The following is required for this role:
Spring 2024 graduate with a BS or MS in Metallurgical Engineering (preferred) or Materials Engineering with an emphasis in Metallurgy and a fundamental understanding of metallic materials
Comfortable collaborating in a diverse, multi-disciplinary team environment with a high degree of initiative and self-motivation, and flexibility to monitor and move projects forward quickly and safely
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills and a "hands-on" attitude
Demonstrated oral and written communication skills necessary to present integrated engineering solutions to all levels within Chemours
Ability to plan, prioritize and manage multiple, complex, time-sensitive projects
The following is preferred for this role
Preference for GPA 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale
Six months of internship / co-op experience in chemical manufacturing, metals processing, and/or R&D in similar fields
Demonstrated ability to apply technical knowledge to diagnose, troubleshoot, solve, or help others solve equipment and/or process issues
