The Spring 2020 Co-Op Human Factors will be based in Hollis, NH. The Human Factors Intern will gain real-world experience in human factors engineering, and the medical product development process. In this position, you will solve complex problems and generate new ideas for a global organization while utilizing creativity and innovation to develop entrepreneurial skills. You will be involved in projects which matter to the business and help achieve company goals. Will work on challenging projects in support of real-time business issues, to develop skills and experiences.

Here is a glimpse of what you'll do

  • Learn and practice standard human factors research methods such as usability testing, preference testing, user needs research interviews, and ethnography

  • Assist with qualitative study execution and research planning, including coordinating with vendors, developing research materials and data collection instruments

  • Plan and conduct usability testing (both formative and summative)

  • Prepare user research protocols and scripts. Moderate, note-take, analyze data, and assist in producing reports suitable for regulatory files

  • Support interdisciplinary teams with industrial designers and engineers to analyze and synthesize data, conduct HF evaluations, and generate concept directions, product specifications, and usability goals

  • Assist with user research, including ethnography in healthcare settings and or patients' homes

Here is some of what you'll need (required)

  • Junior or Senior in a Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology, Industrial Engineering, or a related degree program

  • 3-6 months' availability (January 2020 - July 2020 - dates are somewhat flexible)

  • Passion to learn, contribute, and take on challenges

  • Self-motivated, resourceful, mature, and a team player

  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA

Analyzes research data and produces deliverables suitable for Human Factors/Usability Engineering files. * Implements a variety of user-centered design methods, such as workflow analysis and personas. * Optimizes user interface design by integrating usability and ergonomics. * Works on interdisciplinary teams with designers and engineers to analyze and evaluate data, conducts HF evaluations, and generates concepts, product specifications, and usability goals. * Manages outside suppliers for participant recruiting and research facilities, language translation, etc. * Authors documentation compliant to relevant standards for client device development programs. * Provides accurate, well-defined, and articulate verbal and written presentations to clients. * Interacts with the user interface, engineering, operations, business development, and quality disciplines to develop good processes, close working relationships, and successful products. * Has contact with clients regarding deliverables and general project communications. * Supports business development efforts by attending prospect meetings and contributing to proposals. * Has knowledge of and is compliant with the site's Quality Management System requirements. Implements site's procedures and associated templates for Human Factors and Usability Engineering.
