SPRAY TECHNICIAN

Coastal Carolina University seeks applications for the position of Spray Technician in Sports Turf and Golf Course Operations.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Spray prescribed amounts of fertilizer, insecticide, herbicide and fungicide, using hoses and truck-mounted tanks;

• Assist Superintendent with planning current and long-range spray programs and correct calibrations of all spray equipment;

• Maintain daily spray records and proper chemical inventory;

• Maintain chemical storage and mixing areas in compliance with county, state, and federal regulations;

• Responsible for the direct preventive maintenance of all equipment associated with the task of spraying; and

• Maintain assigned equipment in good condition and responsible for the safe operation, security, and cleanliness of equipment while in possession.

Requirements: A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) and two (2) years of related experience is required.

An associate's degree in Sports Turf, Sports Turf Management, or a related field and previous experience with turf, horticulture, and/or landscape maintenance is preferred. Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and a category 3 SC Pesticide Applicator License.

Trades Specialist III (KC30/61122889/FTE-S00989P), full-time position with benefits. SC State Pay Band: 04.

Salary range: $31,561.00 (minimum) - $44,977.00 (midpoint). Normal work hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, and Friday, 8:00 am to 12:30 pm. Must be flexible to meet the special scheduling needs of the university. Must be able to work alone and in a team environment. Must be able to work additional hours, possibly weekends, as required to include inclement weather and other events as needed.

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Associate's Degree in Sports Turf, Sports Turf Management, or a related field and previous experience with turf, horticulture, and/or landscape maintenance.

Licensure and/or Certification

Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.

A category 3 SC Pesticide Applicator License.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Must be able to read and follow instructions, directions, and safety procedures. Must be capable of following written and verbal instructions.
