Sports Instructor Salary: $11.00 - $13.00 per hour

Sports Instructor Hours: Hours vary based on shift, Sunday-Saturday Weekend Availability a must (Part Time)

Sports Instructor Responsibilities:

• Instructs sports lessons in accordance with YMCA guidelines, having prepared lesson plans accordingly, and supports members and program participants in achieving their goals

• Develops and maintains positive relationships with volunteers, members or program participants, and colleagues at all levels of the organization

• Helps participants and families connect with each other and the YMCA; and encourages parent or caregiver involvement

• Conveys information on sports programs and schedules and as appropriate refers program participants and families to other programs

• Maintains records as required e.g., attendance, progress reports

• Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures

• Completes incident and accident reports as necessary

• Organizes and puts away needed class equipment. Reports damaged equipment

• Trains and supervises class aides as assigned

• Other duties, responsibilities, and activities related to social media marketing may be assigned

• Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information

• Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions

• Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner

• Role model YMCA values and principles to develop the physical and personal growth of all participants

• Performs other duties as assigned

Sports Instructor Qualifications:

• One (1) or more years of related Youth/Adult Sports experience required

• At least sixteen (16) years of age

• Within thirty (30) days of hire must complete Child Abuse Prevention; CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens; Mandated Reporter Training

• Completion of YMCA program-specific and trainer certifications

• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community

• Excellent organizational and leadership skills

• Good analytical/critical thinking

• Familiarity with personal computers helpful

• Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations

• Valid and current driver's license preferred

• Able to effectively communicate and build relationships with Y staff, members, and vendors

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Good customer service skills, high ethical standards, an appropriate professional image, and a team player

• Must possess sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment skills, and a positive attitude

• Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred, but not required
