GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Responsible for all athletic communications internally and externally. The Sports Information Director will be responsible for all athletic statistical recordings and reporting, will maintain and update the athletic website as well as athletic social media accounts. The Sports Information Director must be available to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. This is a full-time, ten-month position (44 weeks per year).

DUTIES:

  • Serve as primary person responsible for maintaining and updating the athletics website.

  • Writes, edits, and distribute quality athletic press releases, feature articles, programs, brochures and website news stories for all athletic events and activities.

  • Oversee and manage the editing and design of media guides and game programs for all home athletic events.

  • Maintain athletic historical records, statistics and report all contest outcomes and scores to the conference and NJCAA as required.

  • Coordinates and supervises game day workers to provide statistics, live streaming and sports information.

  • Provide media support for special events and serve as primary media contact for all varsity sports.

  • Assists Athletic Director with game day administration, compliance, fundraising, scheduling, long term planning, and other needs for the department.

  • Knowledge of NJCAA regulations and guidelines governing recruitment and retention of student-athletes.

  • Recruit, train and manage all game day event staff for statistical analysis, media development, and content. Including but not limited to student workers.

  • Upload and manage the HUDL focus camera and livestream for home events.

  • Assist with all inventory, collection and distribution of all Timberwolves gear.

  • Promotes among coaches, the athletic staff, and student athletes' traits of sportsmanship, personal integrity, and physical and emotional well-being.

  • Builds and fosters a supportive and competitive team culture representing the mission, values and goals of the North Central athletic department.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree required, master's degree preferred.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

  • Demonstrated creative skills to deliver compelling content via text, image and video, including the ability to create and curate on-brand, engaging social media content tailored to specific channels and audiences.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to effectively communicate with stakeholders, internal teams and vendors.

  • Strong organizational and management skills with the ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks.

  • Experience shooting and editing cell phone photo and video content.

  • Proficient with software needed to perform duties, or the ability to learn on the job. Software examples include but are not limited to: Presto Sports, Photoshop, Canva, and HUDL.

  • Ability to understand and uphold the NCMC Athletics brand and mission.

  • Ability to communicate and develop rapport with departmental staff, students, faculty, alumni, administration and the general public.

  • A valid driver's license

  • Ability to lift and move equipment to support events up to 50 pounds.

  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time and perform physical tasks associated with game event statistics and operations.
