Position: Sports Information Director

Department: Athletics

Will work under the direction of the Director of Athletics and be responsible for promoting the Manchester University Department of Athletics through a variety of media opportunities.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Maintains and updates the athletics website with accurate and timely information,

  • game recaps

  • game and season statistics

  • features

  • news and announcements

  • student-athlete roster and bios

  • athletic department staff and coaching bios

  • Prepares publications for athletics such as game programs, media notes, etc.

  • Oversees designated areas of game management

  • including venue set-up

  • in-game statistical coverage

  • student staffing

  • live video feed

  • photography

  • game programs

  • music

  • PA coverage

  • Compiles statistical and historical record information for student-athletes and teams and reports to NCAA, HCAC and other sport organizations.

  • Write and disseminate news and feature articles on Manchester University athletic programs, events, student-athletes and coaches.

  • Effectively uses social media to promote Manchester University Athletics.

  • Works within the athletic department to promote marketing, ticket sales, special events and promotions.

  • Schedules team photos, headshots and maintains action shot photo file of each sport.

  • Hire and supervise student workers.

  • Attend departmental, HCAC and assigned committee meetings.

Secondary Job Functions:

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

  • Willingness to enhance professional growth by attending clinics and workshops as well as belonging to national media associations (such as CoSIDA).

  • Ability to represent the Athletic Department in an appropriate and professional manner at all times.

  • Ability to abide by the rules for the sport of the NCAA, HCAC, and Manchester University at all times.

  • Ability to attend athletic staff meetings, mandatory student-athlete programs, admissions events, sports banquets and athletic fundraising activities.

  • Ability to flex communication style to multiple cultural environments.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required, master's degree preferred; collegiate sports information experience preferred. Website development (SIDEARM and Presto) and sports statistical program (Presto Stats, Statcrew, and NCAA Live Stats) experience preferred. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Work Schedule: This is a full-time (12 month), exempt staff position. Extensive evening and weekend hours can be expected.

Work schedule: This is a full time, exempt position. Forty (40) hours per week will be the general rule. However, depending on the project cycles and workflow demands of the University, additional hours of workday schedule adjustments may be required.
