JCC Greater Boston is seeking a seasonal Sports Camp Counselor for two weeks of the summer. As part of this dynamic team, the successful candidate will enhance each camper’s skills in a variety of sports. He/She/They will also work alongside other camp counselors to ensure a safe and fun environment for the campers. JCC Greater Boston is a vibrant, welcoming workplace with a strong feeling of teamwork and a shared sense of making a difference.
A Sports Camp Counselor doesn’t need to have strong skills in various sports. General knowledge in team sports games and coaching experience is preferred. He/She/They must like children and be willing to guide them through a carefully designed sports program, boosting confidence and skills. The Sports Camp season is June 17 – June 21 and August 19 – August 23, 40 hours per week. While we prefer candidates who are available for both weeks, we have the option for candidates to work one week or both. The camp day is 8:30 AM – 4 PM, Monday through Friday.
This position will pay a starting salary of $15- $18 an hour. The salary offered will ultimately be determined by the hours the employee will work, the scope of the position, the candidate’s relevant experience, and internal equity. Additionally, we offer complimentary access to the JCC Greater Boston facility in Newton, which offers indoor swimming, classes, and workout facilities.

Under the direction of the Head Sports Camp Instructor, guide campers through a carefully designed sports program, boosting confidence and skills in a variety of sports.
Requirements
Education and Experience:
Sports Camp Counselors do not need to have strong skills in a variety of sports. General knowledge in team sports games and 1-year general coaching experience or camp counseling experience preferred. Must display an ability to work well with children and be able to work under the direction of the Head Sports Camp Instructor; willingness to learn and accept guidance and feedback is a must.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted at the JCC’s discretion to meet minimum criteria.
Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of different coaching methods and ability to demonstrate strong communication and organizational skills.
Physical Requirements: Able to work well in a busy, dynamic, and sometimes noisy environment involving multiple tasks and priorities. Able to lift and carry sports equipment.
