Resource Specialist/ Peer Liaison
Work with the spinal cord injury (SCI) Peer Support team in the implementation of a comprehensive supportive treatment plan that meets individual patient needs and characteristics.
Must exemplify a successful adaptation to life after Spinal Cord Injury. Responsible for providing patients with SCI an opportunity to meet and talk with individuals who share similar experiences and circumstances; while providing ongoing resources to patients and their families. Supervise, train, and monitor peer support volunteers.
Participate in professional presentations of research work and serve as an ambassador for Shepherd Center. Function within the scope of Shepherd Centers mission and policies and procedures.
Education: The Director (and the Human Resources Director) has the discretion to consider all qualifications of an applicant and may waive a particular requirement if appropriate. Bachelors level training in Social Science or related field.
Experience: 2-4 years experience in rehabilitation setting or equivalent. Must exemplify a successful adaptation to life after Spinal Cord Injury.
Ability to assess and provide services to specific population as appropriate (i.e., level of injury, interest, etc). Ability to communicate well both orally and in writing. Proficiency in a second language is preferred.
Proficient with computer skills, including MicroSoft Office. Understands and supports the interdisciplinary team approach and rehabilitation environment
