Speech Therapist PRN

PRN Defined: Work minimum of 3 shifts per month with at least one of those shifts being on the weekend to assist with staffing for coverage of absences for staff planned/unplanned and/or increase in census. The more you are available the more you can work if shifts are available.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provides diagnostic evaluations, including recommendations for possible treatment and provision of that treatment when indicated , in the general areas of speech and oral functioning, language, and voice deficits, cognitive impairments and swallowing deficits.

  • Provides service to a variety of patient populations including pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric populations.

  • Maintains an ongoing, supportive, and consultative relationship with significant persons in the patient's life.

  • Determines the need for appropriate referral of a patient to other specialists for consultation and/or treatment.

  • Consults with primary physician regarding these needs and disposition of referrals.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • State of Alaska Speech Therapist License required.

  • Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC) from the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association preferred and/or must be obtained within 12 months of hire.

  • BLS Required

  • Post Graduate Degree Required

  • 1 year acute/rehab experience preferred

The Respiratory Therapist sets up and operates various types of respiratory care equipment to be utilized in the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory disease and/or illness for neonate, infant, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to: * Delivers and assesses responses to ordered therapy per plan of care including routine and intensive therapy and diagnostic procedures. * Utilizes various types of oxygen and other therapeutic gas equipment such as masks, tents and incubators. * Administers prescribed doses of medicinal gases and aerosol drugs. * Measures ventilatory volumes, pressures and blood gas analysis. * Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition and general acceptance of treatment. * Performs a variety of duties related to setting up, operating, cleaning, sterilizing, and storing respiratory therapy equipment. * Responds to emergency team calls. * Educates patients and family members and provides information about community support groups and other available programs. * Provides age and culturally appropriate care. * Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required. Qualifications: * Certified Respiratory Therapist required. * Registry eligible or Registered Respiratory Therapist preferred. * BLS Certification through American Heart Association.
