Speech Language Pathologist PRN

Requirements:

• Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology

• Current license (ABESPA) as a Speech Language Pathologist issued by the State of Alabama

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification

• Prefer experience with assessment and treatment of inpatient acute problems both with speech and swallowing; also pediatric experience. Job also includes performing Modified Barium Swallows. Works in the acute hospital setting/swing bed unit and outpatient clinic.

About the Job:

• Provide comprehensive evaluations and testing, speech therapy treatments and education to patients who have speech, language, voice, and fluency disorders as well as patients who have problems swallowing in accordance with State Regulations and departmental policies.

• Plans, develops and implements a result-oriented treatment plan responsive to the individualized needs of the patient and includes clear, measurable goals. Modifies the treatment plan according to the patient's responses.

• Offer guidance, training, and support to staff and parents on speech therapy matters.

• Document patient care records in accordance with outlined policies and procedures.

• Diagnoses and treats speech and language problems, and engages in scientific study of human communication.

• Evaluates speech and language skills as related to educational, medical, social, and psychological factors.

• Plans, directs, or conducts rehabilitative treatment programs to restore communicative efficiency of individuals with communication problems of organic and nonorganic etiology.
