JOB SUMMARY:
Under the general direction of the Physical Medicine Director, organizes and administers prescribed speech language therapy programs in an effort to reduce and/or prevent disability to help patients achieve their maximum functional potential.
First year graduates will be under general supervision of a licensed Speech Language Pathologist.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Evaluates and treats patients as prescribed by referring physician.
Records treatment, response, progress and discharge information in patient's chart or enters information into computer.
Educates patient, family and significant others regarding condition, treatment and home program.
Routinely confers with physician and other practitioners in person, by phone, or in writing, regarding progress, regression or change of plan.
Maintains professional growth by attendance of department meetings, inservice and educational conferences. Includes participation in hospital orientation and departmental and community inservice education and programs as directed.
Assists with the planning and implementation of new programs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Specific vocational preparation includes an occupationally significant combination of education, training, and on-the-job training.
Masters degree from an accredited program in Speech Language Pathology required.
Connecticut license or Connecticut license eligible required.
First year master's degree graduate (clinical fellow year/CFY) will demonstrate successful intermittent evaluations by the State of Connecticut Department of Health Supervised Professional Experience Plan (SPE).
The length of the supervised professional experience period shall be no longer than 12 months full-time employment or 24 months part-time.
Current Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech-Language Pathology required.
First year graduates will be under general supervision of a licensed Speech Language Pathologist.
Current AHA Healthcare Provider CPR certification or equivalent within 3 months of hire required.
Minimum of one year experience preferred.
