DESCRIPTION:
The Department of Special Education at Nassau BOCES is currently seeking a Regularized Substitute Speech Teacher. Speech-Language services are provided to students in the Department of Special Education Programs for Nassau BOCES from birth to 21 years of age. Services may include but are not limited to those with disorders of language, articulation, phonology, fluency and pragmatics. The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Conducting speech and language re-evaluations for special education students.
Delivering individual and group speech-language services, as per student IEP mandates.
Maintaining accurate records, speech session notes and Medicaid related documents.
Collaborating with teachers, administrators, parents and component school districts.
Maintaining communication with and providing required documentation to supervisor.
Participating in staff meetings and staff development workshops.
Performing all responsibilities as assigned by the appropriate program administrator and/or supervisor.
REQUIREMENTS:
Experience working with children and adolescents with autism and/or emotional and behavioral disorders is highly desirable.
Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as proficiency in using Microsoft Office products.
Salary:
As per contract. Regularized Substitute position including benefits.
