Job Summary Under the general direction and guidance of a credentialed Speech and Language Pathologist, the Speech & Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) provides educationally related speech and language therapy services for students who have mild to severe speech/language disorders. The SLPA services may include activities designed to develop pre-language and language skills, oral motor control for speech production, vocalization, and use of assistive technology devices for communication.
The SLPA performs other related duties as assigned. Education and Experience AA/AS Degree in speech-language pathology assistant program or Bachelor's degree in a speech-language pathology or communication disorders program required BA Degree in communicative disorders or related field desired Credentials and/or Skills: Successful completion of a minimum of one hundred (100) hours of supervised fieldwork desired Work experience or its clinical experience equivalent desired Registration as a Speech Language Pathology Assistant with the State of California required Must possess good organizational, writing and spelling skills Experience of one year or more working with children in a classroom setting desired Experience as a speech and language pathology assistant desired
