Purpose of the position: The purpose of the Speech and Language Pathology Assistant is to provide language therapy with students who have been identified with communication disorders with guidance and supervision of a Certificated Speech-Language Pathologist. As well as working within a dynamic, student focused team in identifying, training, and implementing intervention strategies that are appropriate for the students age and functional level.

Salary Range: $48,000 - $72,000/Yr
Depending on Experience:
SLPA 0-5 Years $48,000 - $58,000
SLPA 5-10 Years $58,000 - $66,560
SLPA 10+ Years $66,560 - $72,000

Position Responsibilities and Duties:
Provide speech-language therapy assistance to students that are appropriate for the age and needs of the students.
Work with students with a variety of communication disorders and complex communication needs.
Follow and implement treatment plans established by the supervising SLP, maintain documentation and data toward therapy goals, documents the progress toward goals, and reports information to the supervising SLP.
Assists with documentation and clerical duties as needed by SLP.
Assist in the preparation of therapy materials such as core boards, choice boards, communication books, visual icons, Augmentative and Alternative Communication devices (AAC), and equipment for therapy activities.
Adapt and modify materials and equipment to meet the students needs.
Assist in the maintenance of student records.
Interact and communicate with children, adults, families, and caregivers from different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Other duties as assigned.
For Employees Assigned To Schools Full-Time
Although employment is at-will, Therapists are expected to work 206 days during the school year (consisting of 200 in-person student instruction days and related preparation time, plus six (6) days of instructional and training days, and may be asked to attend additional scheduled events (i.e., Open House) on school days).
Point Quests operational calendar runs from July 1 to June 30. The school year, including Extended School Year classes (ESY), generally runs approximately August to mid-July. A schedule will be announced for each job site each year. 2-3 days of training and new hire orientation are generally scheduled for the first week of August. Vacation is strongly encouraged to be taken during school breaks and during summer. We request that therapists avoid scheduling vacations during ESY and scheduled trainings.

Minimum Skills or Qualifications:
Minimum Associate of Arts degree in speech-language pathology assistant or communication disorders, or graduation from a speech-language pathology assistant program.
Possession of, or eligibility to obtain, a valid California State license to serve as a Speech/Language Pathology Assistant by the California Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Board; prior SLPA experience in educational or clinical settings is preferred.
Experience working in a school or treatment setting for students with learning or social/emotional problems is preferred.
DOJ/FBI Live Scan Background & TB Clearance
Pro-Act, CPI and/or CPR certification helpful
Working knowledge of standard business practices and procedures
Computer-literate; knowledge of standard company software applications, internet
Effective interpersonal skills
Excellent organizational skills with ability to manage multiple tasks
Problem-solving ability and proven accuracy with detailed information
Proficient written and verbal English language communication skills, including business writing and professional telephone manner
Reliability, dependability and flexibility
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
Regularly required to be able to sit and view computer screens for extended periods of time
The noise intensity level is moderate to high
Requires frequent reaching, handling, sitting, standing, walking, hearing, and talking
Must be able to see and hear within normal range with or without correction.
