DEFINITION Under the supervision of a credentialed Speech-Language Specialist, provides direct speech therapy services to identified students related to articulation and phonology language processing, hearing, and alternative and augmentative communication; performs a variety of duties in support of student in accordance with Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals; performs a variety of duties in support of student case management services; maintain records and documentation on students; and performs related duties as assigned. CLASS CHARACTERISTICS A Speech & Language Pathology Assistant participates, collaborates, and provides speech therapy services for special needs students to improve their academic performance.

LICENSE REQUIRED Some positions may require possession of a valid and appropriate California driver's license. Must maintain current Speech and Language Pathology registration with the State of California Department of Consumer Affairs Board of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology throughout employment in this position.

Prior experience working with secondary aged students is desirable. Any other combination of training and/or experience that could likely provide the desired skills, knowledge or abilities may be considered.

This recruitment will result in a merged list of open and promotional candidates. The current position may work at multiple locations including Edison High School, Westminster High School, and Fountain Valley.

The eligibility list will be valid for one year and used to fill the current open position and used for future vacancies if needed. Final selection of appointees will be made from the top three ranks who are "ready and willing" to accept an assignment. Personnel Commission Rule 4240.1 F:

When fewer than three (3) ranks of available eligible candidates remain on an eligibility list and the appointing authority has requested certification of additional eligible candidates, the list may be terminated by the Personnel Director.
