state license, Inpatient Acute experience preferred

Wage:Highly Competitive Wage and stipend for out of area therapists.

Schedule:Monday-Friday, 8 hours per day

Duration:13 weeks

VIEW JOBS 11/6/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-04T00:00 Providence is calling a Speech Language Pathologist (Physical Therapy Dept, Day Shift, Full-time/40 hours per week) to Providence Mount Carmel Hospital in Colville, Washington. We are a community of caregivers delivering every day on our Mission to provide compassionate care that is accessible for all – especially those who are poor and vulnerable. * $2,000 sign on bonus offered for caregivers new to Providence Our critical access hospital has 25 beds including 5 swing beds, and 4 CCU beds. This position provides the opportunity to work in both the outpatient and acute settings, leaning much heavier towards outpatient pediatrics. Because we are small and practice in a rural setting, you would have the opportunity to hone your skills by working with a wide variety of patients from all ages and diagnoses. The in-patient caseload varies and is primarily related to dysphagia clinical evaluations, although our referrals have been building for communication and cognition. Our SLP staff is willing to supervise a CFY for the right SLP and are looking forward to sharing their knowledge and providing a strong mentorship partnership. In this position you will: * Provides speech therapy services appropriate to the needs of the client and consistent with current knowledge about the practices pf speech pathology. * Assists with, or performs, according to scope of practice, a timely assessment of patients, according to policies, procedures, and protocols, taking into account age/developmental stage. * Performs communication disorders and swallowing assessment of patients according to policies, procedures, protocols and American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) practice standards. * Performs speech, language, swallowing and voice therapy according to policies, procedures, protocols and ASHA practice standards. * Provides instruction and education to patient and family in therapeutic procedures and home programs. * Refers to other health care providers when needs are identified. Required qualifications for this position include: * Master's Degree in Speech Pathology * Certificate of Clinical Competence awarded by the American Speech, Language, and Hearing Association (ASHA) or Eligibility for the Clinical Fellowship Year * 1-2 years in clinical, acute care, rehabilitation, or home health setting or applicable clinical practicum/intern exeperience * Dysphagia evaluation and therapy training * Ability to deal with a wide variety of communication disorders among all age groups * Ability to work independently without direct supervision About the hospital you will serve.
