Therapy Specialists is excited to announce a wonderful opportunity for a Speech Language Pathologist or Clinical Fellow to work Part-Time on the campus of Reata Glen, a beautiful new Continuing Care Retirement Community in Mission Viejo, CA. Reata Glen is a 60-acre oasis for Senior Living in the hills of South Orange County and conveniently located just minutes from beaches, shopping, dining, and cultural attractions. This is a great opportunity to be part of the development of Rehab Services on the campus and work across the continuum of care in senior living. The Therapy Department has recently started up campus-based Outpatient Services to residents in Independent Living on the campus and Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Skilled Nursing Services will follow in stages.
We are looking for a self-motivated Speech Therapist who possesses great customer service skills and has experience working in Senior Living. The position will be Part-Time, 3 to 5 Days per week for up to 4 hour per day, during initial program development stages. However, there is potential for growth of hours as the caseload develops.
An active Speech Language Pathologist License (SLP) in California and Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) is preferred, but SLP-CF candidates with clinical experience in Skilled Nursing or working with the Geriatric Population will be considered.
Skilled Nursing and/or Senior Living experience is required.
LSVT Certification or training in Parkinson's Disease is preferred, but not required.
Understanding and use of a wide variety of assessment tools such as SLUMS, MASA, MOCA, and RIPA.
Casamba EMR experience is preferred.
Ability to float between various practice settings on the campus to treat patients and residents.
Willingness to float to nearby sister facilities, as needed.
Position Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Screening, evaluating, and providing treatment in the following areas: expressive and receptive aphasia, cognitive-linguistic deficits, dysphasia, and dysarthria.
Providing caregiver and family training, as needed.
Effectively communicating with other disciplines, nursing, physicians, and families.
Completing thorough documentation and managing paperwork efficiently with independence.
Providing excellent customer service and patient care.
Providing a hybrid of in-person and Telehealth services based on patient and facility needs.
Presenting SLP options to residents and staff in-person and virtually.
Assisting with the growth of Speech Therapy program, as well as supporting the growth of other disciplines by advocating for all Rehab Services.
Conducting Health Talks and providing community education on the benefits of Speech Therapy.
Networking with other providers to facilitate cross referral relationships.
