Speech Language Pathologist

At Select Specialty/ Regency Hospital, a division of Select Medical, our specialty hospitals care for chronically and critically ill or post-ICU patients who require extended hospital care. We are currently seeking a Speech Language Pathologist to join our team. We offer an excellent network of career opportunities across the U.S.

Responsibilities

The Speech Language Pathologist has initiative, responsibility, and action in assigned responsibility; understanding of physical, mental, psychological, and social needs of patients; The SLP has an understanding of communication skills, evaluation, and treatment and a desire to work in collaboration with associates to provide quality interdisciplinary patient programming. Using independent judgement, the Speech Pathologist assumes the responsibility of providing a comprehensive evaluation of communication skills and/or swallowing function, and provides goal-oriented treatment to facilitate maximum communication and/or swallowing potential.

Other responsibilities of the Speech Language Pathologist position include:

  • Assists the Department Manager in departmental management functions.

  • Participates with fellow staff in monitoring the quality of services provided by the Rehab Therapy Department.

  • Participates in peer review for staff performance and appraisals.

  • Assists in development of the SLP role in programs and services.

  • Assists in the development and revising of departmental policies and procedures. Assists in maintaining an adequate stock of supplies.

  • Exhibits willingness to share professional knowledge and experience. Alerts the Manager to educational needs

Other requirements of the Speech Language Pathologist role include:

  • Graduation from a program satisfying the American Speech/Language/Hearing Association's academic and practicum requirements for the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC).

  • Must hold a valid license issued by the State in which they are practicing

  • Must have two (2) years of progressively responsible experience

  • BLS required

We are seeking a Outpatient Pediatric Clinical Speech Language Pathologist to: * Provide consultative and developmentally appropriate habilitative and rehabilitative treatment services to complex pediatric patients (infant to adolescent) in an outpatient setting in the domains of swallow, speech, language and cognition. * Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to create comprehensive evidence-based patient and family treatment plans to maximize functional outcomes. * Work within the context of patient- and family- centered care as part of a primary and specialty care academic medical center. * Seek continual learning opportunities to advance one's own practice and educate others. Education: Minimum - Masters level degree in Speech Language Pathology or Communicative Disorders Work Experience: Minimum - Completion of Clinical Speech Language Pathology Fellowship Preferred - Experience in a medical setting as a Speech Language Pathologist Licenses and Certifications: Minimum - Wisconsin state license (or eligible) to practice as a Speech Language Pathologist * Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Language Pathology (CCC - SLP) * Certification in Healthcare Provider Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Automatic External Defibrillator within 3 months of hire. Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Familiarity with a variety of equipment, including computer software, is required. Organization, independence, time management, flexibility, and positive attitude are crucial to successful performance. Physical Requirements: Light: Ability to lift up to 20 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds. Work Schedule: 100% FTE, 40 hours per week. Monday through Friday with hours between 8:00am and 5:30pm. Possible rotation with a holiday weekend, currently no more than once/year. Hours may vary based on the operational needs of the department.
