General Definition of Work
Performs difficult professional work providing a broad range of teaching services or specific learning program, assisting students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed as a foundation for future learning in accordance with each student's ability, using a variety of teaching and learning methods at various levels to a targeted audience, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Principal.
Essential Job Functions
Provides consultation, seeks assistance of others, uses related research and makes recommendations and referrals in the implementation of services
Conducts screening and testing, obtains diagnostic information, analyzes information and makes recommendations regarding programs and services
Knowledge of appropriate screening instruments
Knowledge of CECAS, Medicaid billing and PowerSchool
Manages time, facilities and resources to facilitate delivery of services
Provide appropriate information on an informal or formal basis regarding speech, language, and hearing problems
Develops appropriate IEPs based on student's strengths and needs
Conduct and attend IEP meetings; schedule parent meetings
Work with regular education and special education staff to meet speech & language needs of children
Organizes the local program, cooperates with others to accomplish its goals, coordinates program services with other student services and maintains records in accordance with established rules, regulations and ethical standards
Minimum Education and Experience
Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology; Temporary or permanent license from NCBOESLPA is required; Individual must hold or be able to obtain a NC Professional Educator's Certificate in the area of Speech-Language Pathologist
