Easterseals of Mahoning, Trumbull, and Columbiana Counties is looking for an energetic and compassionate full-time Speech and Language Pathologist to serve our clients and help to make a difference. NEW GRADS WELCOME! Pay will be based on experience. No weekends or holidays are required.

Basic Responsibilities:

The Kindergarten Readiness Speech Pathologist will assist in implementing the Kindergarten Readiness program by providing rehabilitative and educational services that improve speech, language, voice, and fluency disorders.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES (FUNCTIONS) INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

  • Assist in planning preschool social skills/play groups throughout Trumbull, Mahoning, and Columbiana counties to aid in early intervention of sensory, fine motor, balance, handwriting, and spectrum disorders in preschool-aged children.

  • Work with the Program Manager to identify community partners to host play groups.

  • Assist in preparing materials, curriculum, and supplies for the program.

  • Conduct community outreach to educate parents on the benefits of the program.

  • Provide speech and language pathology services within an outpatient setting.

  • Complete evaluations establish goals for each client and initiate the treatment plan.

  • Collaborate with the client or designated family member to match the level of involvement in the Plan of Care.

  • Collaborate with other disciplines to provide an interdisciplinary treatment approach as deemed appropriate.

  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of insurance coverage and limitations, adapt treatment plans accordingly, and communicate appropriate information to consumers and families.

  • Complete documentation in accordance with established standards and Easterseals policies and procedures.

  • Collect data for grant reporting purposes.

  • Serve as an effective educator and mentor to clients, families, staff, clinical students, and the community.

  • Provide treatment to include a holistic approach that maintains the highest level of professional morals and ethics; compassion; knowledge and clinical reasoning.

  • Meet and maintain clinical-specific and organizational skills/competencies, certifications/licensures as required.

  • Maintains knowledge of the area of specialty, healthcare trends and practice and populations served.

  • Meet or exceed established productivity expectations of the department within scheduled timeframes and with expected or superior clinical outcomes.

Qualifications:

Graduate of an accredited program with a degree in Speech and Language Pathology; current Ohio licensure or Conditional License by the Board of Speech and Language Pathologists; licensure in good standing.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to problem-solve issues.

  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.

  • Must be organized and able to handle multiple tasks.

  • Must be honest, dependable and able to meet deadlines.

  • Must exercise sound judgment in making decisions and act accordingly.

EQUIPMENT USED/MACHINERY REQUIRED TO OPERATE:

  • Adaptive communication switches

  • Augmentative communication devices

  • Cognitive, perceptual, or sensory evaluation or testing products

  • General office equipment inclusive of computers and applicable software programs

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Stands, walks, bends, squats, twists, and kneels frequently.

  • Reaches overhead on occasion.

  • Lifts up to 20 pounds on occasion.

  • Pushes/pulls up to 25 pounds occasionally.

  • Manual dexterity necessary.

  • Good eye/hand coordination.

  • Visual and auditory acuity to perform essential functions.

  • May be exposed to communicable diseases and bloodborne pathogens.
