Summary & Objective
Pathologist, Speech Language evaluates, plans, directs and treats all patients and/or residents referred for speech/language pathology treatments to restore or maintain function and prevent disability following disease or injury.
Essential Functions
Perform initial and ongoing speech therapy evaluations according to standards of practice as well as state standards.
Develop plan of care for each patient and/or resident based on initial and ongoing evaluations including short and long term goals in collaboration of other clinical personnel and required patient and caregiver involvement.
Completes scheduled patient and/or resident load.
Completes or provides necessary MDS and Care Plan documentation specific to Speech Therapy
Performs preparatory data gathering necessary to adequately evaluate the patient and/or resident's needs prior to initial patient and/or resident contact; reviews patient and/or resident records; confers with the treating physician; collaborates with nursing staff and other members of the health care team regarding each patient and/or resident.
Practices Speech Therapy consistent with the American Speech & Hearing Association (ASHA) Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice, and Federal and State regulations.

Other Duties
Coordinates students, volunteers, interns or fellowships in speech therapy.
Reports patient and/or resident's progress and/or changes to other clinical personnel involved in ongoing treatment/care of patients.
Provides orientation to new employees as needed.
Maintains flexibility in assignment changes due to census fluctuation.
Maintain your required license, certifications and mandatory skill updates.
Comply with all policies, local, state and federal laws and regulations.
Floats to other units as assigned to meet patient and/or resident care needs.
Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements
Knowledge & Experience Requirements
Clear and Active Speech Language Pathology license to practice in the state of Florida
Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an SLP program approved by the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA)
Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) required or currently completing Clinical Fellowship year (CFY) to obtain Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC)
2 years clinical experience preferred
CPR certification
Must have knowledge of computer office/clinical software
Must be able to read, write and understand the English language
