Position Summary

The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) provides treatment to a wide variety of patients and works closely with the rehabilitation team. We have active dysphagia, neuro, cancer, and cardiac cases.

Our therapists work in both inpatient and outpatient setting clinics in excellent facilities, treating a variety of patient diagnoses. Individuals may be assigned permanently, temporarily, or simultaneously to other worksites where modified job descriptions exist. The Speech Language Pathologist will have the opportunity to work at Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center and Asante Ashland Community Hospital. The SLP may provide weekend and evening services to patients as needed.

Our inpatient therapists work with a wide variety of patients in the acute care and inpatient rehab settings with the expectation of mentoring and instructing students or less experienced staff members.

Qualifications

Education

  • Master's degree from an SLP program or equivalent is required.

Experience

  • None outside of licensure required, however home care, hospice, and/or acute care experience is preferred.

Licensure/Certifications

  • SLP: Speech Language Pathologist licensed by the Oregon Board of Examiners for Speech Language Pathology and Audiology required upon start
  • OR - a temporary SLP license issued by the Oregon Board of Examiners for Speech Language Pathology (SLP-Temp) will be accepted for new hires awaiting permanent license. Permanent license must be obtained within 90 days.
  • BLS: Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider certified by American Heart Association (AHA) required upon start.

  • Possession of a valid Driver's License with proof of safe driving record for the past ten years and proof of auto insurance may be required. If required, must have Oregon Driver's License within 30 days of moving to Oregon (if applicable).

Preferred Certifications

  • CCC: Certificate of Clinical Competency by American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA)
  • Speak Out! Provider Credential (The Parkinson's Voice Project)
  • MBCImP: Modified Barium Swallow Impairment Profile Registered Clinician (Northern Speech Services)
  • LSVT Loud: Lee Silverman Voice Treatment Certification (LSVT Global)
  • VitalStim/DINES Certification; VitalStim/Dynamic Integration of NMES and Exercise for Swallowing (Ciao Seminars)

Required Skills

  • Ability to process information and problem-solve individually and within a team setting

  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks appropriately and manage time well

  • Ability to adhere to and maintain expertise regarding federal and state regulations, and specific carrier requirements

  • Effective communicator, verbally and in writing, with patients, families, coworkers, physicians, and community members
