The Speech Language Pathologist:
Works under the direct supervision of the Team Coordinator and/or Clinical Specialist, and leadership of the Rehab Therapy Services Inpatient Manager
Uses objective evaluation techniques to assess the Speech, Language, Cognitive, Voice and Swallowing limitations to patients who have developmental, neurological, cardiopulmonary and otlaryngologic disabilities.
Prescribes and implements a treatment program which is designed to return patients to their maximum level of function.
Rotates through assigned areas of the department or may have the opportunity to focus on one service area
Work collaboratively with all members of the multidisciplinary health care team to maximize patient and team outcomes
Promotes improvement in service, department and hospital systems to benefit patient care.
Incorporates and operationalizes the goals and objectives of the Hospital at the site of care.
Mentors other to promote quality and excellent of care.

Weekend Work Required
Work Location: Johns Hopkins Hospital, East Baltimore Campus
Pay Grade: CL
Completion of a Master's Degree in Speech Pathology from an accredited academic program.
Required Licensure, Certification, Etc.:
Licensure from State of Maryland, ASHA certification, Current AHA Health Care Provider CPR certification.
Successful completion of Speech Language Pathology Clinical Fellowship.
Knowledge of basic social, behavioral, biological and physical science as required by academic program;
Knowledge of Speech Pathology foundation and theory, evaluation and treatment techniques, research and application, leadership and management as required by the academic program;
Knowledge of current health care environment;
Annual completion of required departmental and/or service competency learning materials;
Ability to use highly developed age-specific communication and interpersonal skills in interactions with patients and families, co-workers and the entire health care team;
Ability to gather, analyze, interpret, summarize and document data using technology for effective clinical decision making during patient evaluation and treatment;
Ability to apply knowledge and theory in clinical practice;
1.Possible exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous materials with little likelihood of harm if established health precautions are followed.
2.Work requires standing and/or walking for extended periods of time.
3.Work requires lifting and/or assisting patients during treatment activities.
4.Work may require contact with aggressive and/or combative patients.
5.Work areas may be noisy and crowded.
6.Employees in this position will be required to adhere to work availability and departmental scheduling requirements. This may include, but is not limited to, weekends, early morning/late day shifts, holidays.
7.Employee may be required to provide services in the community and may need to use public modes of transportation.
