Job Summary

SPEECH & LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST Under the direction and supervision of the Director of Special Education will provide diagnostic and therapeutic services for language, speech and hearing disabled students to assist them in achieving success through specialized instruction/and or services. The specialist will assist classroom teachers and parents in helping students alleviate weaknesses in communication skills. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Evaluate students for speech and language services for possible remediation. Report the severity of the problem, nature of the problem and probable outcome with therapy.

  • Confer with teachers and staff on student's communication needs.

  • Assess the functional effect of hearing impairment as it affects the student's progress in the classroom.

  • Design and write specific instructional goals based upon assessment findings and specific learning and behavioral needs.

  • Provide individualized Instruction to students according to assessed needs and specific instructional goals in support of the student's core curriculum in accordance with students' Individualized Education Plan .

  • Review and evaluate progress against established instructional goals for each student in the program.

  • Participate in professional improvement programs by attending courses, conferences, and lectures.

  • Participate in special education staff meetings and site faculty meetings.

  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, site administrators and students to design and schedule services in support of the classroom program.

  • Comply with SELPA guidelines for special education in accordance with State and Federal guidelines.

  • Participate in Individualized Education Plan meetings as directed

  • Master's Degree in related field

  • Must possess or be in the process of obtaining a Valid California credential authorizing Speech

  • Language Pathology services or ability to obtain one

  • Experience working with students in a school setting (preferably in a charter school) Please make sure to include the following documents in your application:
