Description of Positon: Provides services to pupils with speech, language, and/or hearing impairments, including: assessment, development of goals for intervention with IEP guidelines, and implementation of services.

Major Duties and Responsibilities: Evaluates in cooperation with other professionals, the effects of a speech, language or hearing impairment upon the pupil's educational achievement and personal adjustment. Prescribes through IEP's the appropriate programs for remediation.

Consults with parents and school staff regarding referrals to the speech program. Diagnoses speech problems of pupils referred and selects appropriate placement for the pupils in speech therapy sessions in accordance with prescribed and approved standards. Works with pupils so selected and enrollled to remediate speech disorders using appropriate therapy techniques.

Coordinates therapy sessions with the pupil's total educational program. Keeps required school attendance and makes reports. Attends IEPs and SSTs as necessary.
