This position begins with the 2024-2025 school year and is Full-Time with Benefits.

Position Objective

To provide data and participate as a member of District teams to help students resolve such speech and language problems as interfere with their adjustments to school and their capacity to enjoy the fullest benefits of the education offered to them.

Essential Functions:

  • Acts as a case manager for "speech-only" case study evaluations

  • Screens and evaluates children to identify those with speech/language disorders

  • Develops appropriate therapy materials for school and/or home

  • Determines appropriate evaluation methods to address referral concerns

  • Completes and submits all required paperwork and reports in a timely manner

  • Serves on assigned schools' RTI problem solving team

  • Participates in staffing, parent-teacher conferences, teacher's meetings, school open houses and/or other district meetings

  • Conducts and/or participates in Eligibility/IEP conferences

  • Schedules times and notifies all participants of Eligibility/IEP conferences

  • Determines caseload and schedules children in individual or group therapy sessions as appropriate to the children's need and IEP

  • Maintains ethical communication and standards

  • Maintains ethical and professional assessment standards

  • Keep appraised of current rules and regulations in the areas of special education and speech language pathology. Understands public laws which affect education process

  • Provides services that are reflective of the multicultural sensitivities of students and their families

Additional Functions:

  • Provides assistance/training in behavior management techniques

  • Assists with methods of curriculum instruction, adaptions/modifications

  • Provides in-service as needs arise in assigned area

  • Attends or participates in professional growth opportunities

  • Participates in district committees as necessary and appropriate

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or higher in speech pathology required

  • Illinois Professional Educator License with Speech Language Pathologist endorsement required

  • 1+ year experience preferred

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills. Able to communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents

  • Adaptable to different work scenarios and schedules. Able to prioritize efforts in order to achieve a student-focused solution

  • Able to work in various team-oriented work groups to come to a student-focused solution
