This is a 1.0 FTE position as a Speech and Language Pathologist working for the Greater Lafayette Area Special Services (GLASS) for the 2024-2025 school year. The preferred candidate will have an Indiana School IPLA SLP license and an IDOE Communication Disorder license. GLASS services Tippecanoe County and is located just one hour north of downtown Indianapolis and two hours south of downtown Chicago along I -65 in west central Indiana. Tippecanoe County is a growing area with a strong economic base. The Greater Lafayette Area is the home of Purdue University, and the presence of the university helps to make Lafayette one of the greatest places to live in the Midwest. Those employees already working in the LSC on a regular teaching contract may apply for transfer by completing an INTERNAL applitrack application found on the employment link of the LSC webpage. Qualifications: Master's Degree in Speech/Language Pathology, IPLA SLP License, IDOE Communication Disorder Teaching License

Terms of Employment: 181 Days per Lafayette School Corp Contract

Evaluation: Per Lafayette School Corporation Contract by GLASS Supervisor and building principal

Compensation: Per Lafayette School Corporation Teacher Contract

Job Description

SLPs working in cooperation with GLASS and District Administrators, teachers, parents and students, shall be responsible for providing diagnostic and intervention services for students with speech and language impairments helping students to access the general education curriculum.

  • ResponsibilitiesAssess, screen, and evaluate students and share results with parents and educational staff, and participate in the eligibility determination process in accordance with state and school division requirements and best practices

  • Develop and implement individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students with Speech/Language impairment and assists with IEPs for students with speech/language as a secondary disability

  • Demonstrate knowledge of child growth and development and individual student needs by providing relevant instruction/therapy according to the IEP and educational best practices

  • Provide direct and consultative therapeutic services related to articulation, expressive, receptive, and pragmatic language

  • Provide consultative services for school staff by sharing and demonstrating specific techniques and working with school teams to facilitate relevant and consistent interventions for targeted students

  • Maintain documentation of all services through the GLASS documentation system (GO Solutions).

  • Comply with all GLASS requirements for school-based Medicaid claiming

  • Communicate and collaborate with parents and the school community for the purpose of fostering individual student success and growth while engaging the families in the therapy program

  • Establish and maintain cooperative professional relationships with administrative and school staff

  • Participate in various meetings for the purpose of addressing student goals and needs, and to meet laws and policies

  • Maintain and submit information/records including student progress for all students
