Sped Paraprofessional (Middle School)

Assist the teacher and/or oversee students in planning and carrying out their daily activities in order to provide a positive learning experience.

Requirements: Parapro Praxis or two years college

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.

• Assist the teacher in planning and implementing classroom activities or assignments.

• Assist in preparation of classroom materials.

• Assist with record keeping, reporting and filing.

• Maintain an attractive and orderly environment.

• Supervise students as assigned and support student learning.

• Assist with the assessment and evaluation of learning as necessary.

• Assist with identification of and attention to children's health and hygiene needs.

• Engender positive communications with parents.

• Maintain strict confidentiality of student records and data.

• Assist students in behavior modification.

• Participate in staff development; attend required training sessions as assigned.

• Daily attendance and punctuality are required for the purpose of ensuring the goals of the work unit can be met.
