Special Education Behavior Technician
The Special Education Behavior Technician will assist in assessing and implementing high quality behavioral interventions. This will include modeling strategies in classrooms. The job of the technician is support the Behavior Coach in building the capacity of the school and its teachers to meet the learning and behavioral needs of all students. Positions are available at both the elementary and secondary level.
Supports team in implementation of behavior plans and instructional strategies as directed by Behavior Coach.
Assists special education teachers and paraeducators by demonstrating strategies, modeling effective behavioral intervention strategies, and assisting with individual and/or team planning and problem-solving.
Supports team in collection of data needed for functional behavior assessments and behavior intervention plans.
Assists with material preparation, including those needed for behavior management.
Possess strong verbal and communication skills.
Be a collaborative team member.
Be trained or able to be trained in CPI.
Successfully complete 40 hours of Behavior Technician training.
Employee must be able to sit, stoop, bend, and walk as needed on a daily basis. While performing duties within this job, employee may be exposed to indoor and outdoor conditions and a noise level that can range from mild to loud.
Sioux City Community Schools is a supporter of the National Career Readiness Certificate.
