Specimen Processor Lab Assistant
Tuesday through Saturday 9:00 am to 5:30 pm

Job Summary:
This position involves all aspects of receipt, storage, and delivery of specimens for testing, plus various support activities in the department.
Education and Experience Requirements
High School Diploma
MS Office
Typing/data entry skills preferred
Major Duties & Responsibilities
Receive and Sorts packages sent to NMS
Scans FEDEX barcodes and uploads to Excel, reconciles reports
Using scanner - photographs tracking number for all packages received daily.
Transport and retrieve specimens to and from laboratory.
Learn and understand all aspects of Specimen Storage (Store, discards, ATD etc.)
Pulls samples from reflex/resample report
Pulls samples from Return reports
Preparation of cleaning solutions
Sort and Scan client requisitions (On Base), store the paperwork and document discard date of storages
Checks and signs off on all boxes being returned to clients
Backup for the NMS courier
General department housekeeping
Participate in departmental meetings and projects
Maintains regular and reliable attendance
Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of chain of custody procedures
Knowledge of proper evidence sealing procedures
Exhibit professional and effective interpersonal skills
Ability to read and comprehend company procedures and apply them to work operations
Must be detail-oriented and able to work with a high degree of accuracy
Must be flexible in scheduling and available for overtime as required
Valid driver's license (in capacity as backup to courier)
Good driving record (i.e., no major violations in past 3 years, in capacity as backup to Courier)
Good customer service focus and ability to work as part of a team
Physical Demands
Ability to talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to manipulate computer keyboard, objects, or controls
Requires walking from one work location to another throughout the shift
Sitting and standing for up to extended periods of time.
Lifting and carrying objects up to 10 pounds
Ability to travel as needed for court testimony.
Specific vision abilities (with correction) include close and distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Exposure to intermittent or constant sounds generated by equipment
Exposure to fumes, noxious odors and dust
Handling of biological material and blood-borne pathogens
Handling of toxic or caustic chemicals
