Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Prepares laboratory specimens for analysis and testing

  • Unpacks and routes specimens to their respective staging areas

  • Accurately Identify and label specimens

  • Pack and ship specimens to proper testing facilities

  • Meets department activity and production goals

  • Properly prepares and stores excess specimen samples

  • Data entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner

  • Resolve and document any problem specimens


  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • No relative experience required; 1-2 years preferred

  • Previous medical or production experience is a plus

  • Comfortable handling biological specimens

  • Ability to accurately identify specimens

  • Experience working in a team environment

  • Strong data entry and organizational skills

  • High level of attention to detail

  • Proficient in MS Office

  • Able to pass a standardized color blind test

This position is also responsible for providing quality patient care through Laboratory services and interaction with patients.<br />  </p> <p><strong>POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:</strong></p> <p>The ideal candidate for the Lab Assistant position will possess a Bachelors Degree in Science or equivalent certification and have developed a good understanding of an orderly laboratory process through experience and/or training. Examples of beneficial experience might include Medical Laboratory Technician, Medical Assistant, Phlebotomist with laboratory skills.<br />  </p> <p><strong>POSITION DETAILS:</strong></p> <p><strong>Main Function:</strong></p> <p>A Lab Technician will operate within multiple areas of the laboratory; this includes, but is not limited to;</p> <ul> <li>Blood Analyzer</li> <li>Centrifuge</li> <li>Microscope</li> <li>Andrology Equipment</li> </ul> <p><strong>Reports to:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Lab Manager</li> </ul> <p><strong>Professional Qualities:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Conscientious and able to use common sense problem solving skills.</li> <li>Able to accept and follow direction with professionalism.</li> <li>Naturally inclined to pay special attention to detail.</li> <li>A team player willing to work cross-divisionally in the lab.</li> <li>Able to retain information once learned.</li> <li>Willing to work until all duties are complete, sometimes staying extra hours at short-notice.</li> <li>Able to form favorable relationships with co-workers and management, maintaining a positive, mature and professional attitude at all times.</li> <li>Bilingual a plus but not required.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Main Responsibilities:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Ensure lab processing produces consistent quality results.</li> <li>Ensure laboratory environment and all operating equipment is maintained and kept clean and tidy at all times.</li> <li>Log all work correctly and follow work-orders as provided by the Lab Manager.</li> <li>Follow all internal operating procedures conscientiously with particular attention to policies.</li> <li>Maintain a professional image for the company at all times.</li> <li>Maintain a genuinely compassionate and empathetic clinical experience for patients.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Daily Responsibilities:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Properly prepare, utilize and maintain equipment.</li> <li>Maintain stocked, tidy and clean laboratory environment.</li> <li>Ensure chemicals and solutions are at optimum operating levels.</li> <li>Ensure regular and accurate logs are kept in accordance with lab operating procedures.</li> <li>Control stock of chemicals and other consumable supplies and report requirements to Lab Manager.</li> <li>Any other operations requested by the lab manager necessary to fulfill patient care requirements.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Hours:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Monday, Wednesday, Friday 6:30 am -3:00 pm</li> <li>Willingness to travel to a satellite location</li> </ul> <p><strong>In order to be considered for this position please email resume, a cover letter, salary requirements, and the best times and method to reach you if an interview is warranted.</strong></p> <p>Job Type: Part-time</p> Morgan Fertility Lakewood Township NJ
