SPECIALTY PROBATION OFFICER-ADULT DIVISION

DEPARTMENT: Elkhart County Judiciary-Court Services

HIRING RATE: Indiana Judicial Salary Schedule for Probation Officers

HOURS & DAYS OF WORK: 40 hour work week

JOB SUMMARY:

Provides supervision for adult offenders placed on probation with the goals of providing services that are in the best interest of the offender, protection of the public, assistance of victims, and the reduction of recidivism, as directed by the Elkhart County Courts with an emphasis on use of evidence based practices. In contrast with a standard probation officer, the specialty officer is expected to have specialized training and knowledge they will apply to manage their specialized caseload.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's Degree in Behavioral Sciences, Social Work or Criminal Justice required

• Must have Indiana Risk Assessment System (IRAS) certification from IOCS, or ability to obtain certification within 6 months of employment

• Must obtain Probation Officer certification from the Indiana Judicial Center within 6 months of employment

• Must be 21 years of age, American Citizen, and possess a valid driver's license

• Background check & drug screen required
