The Specialty Practice Accounting Supervisor will be instrumental in the build out of our exciting growth initiatives. In this newly created position, the Specialty Practice Accounting Supervisor is responsible for managing the Specialty Practice Accounting Team which handles all elements of accounting for specialty practices including invoicing, receipt of client payments and payment of related contractors and vendors. Day to day supervision includes monitoring processes and the implementation of controls to ensure timely and accurate invoicing, receipt posting, payment processing, formal reporting, and compliance with financial policies. This position will oversee a team of approximately 5 individuals and is responsible for their delivery of an accurate, timely and efficient work-product coupled with strong customer service.

As a newly developed accounting team, the Specialty Practice Accounting Supervisor will be responsible for uniting disparate accounting teams into one as well as providing input into the configuration of and transition to the new ERP system to be implemented effective January 1, 2021 for specialty practice accounting.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

The duties of the Specialty Practice Accounting Supervisor include but are not limited to:

  • Oversee and supervise the Specialty Practice Accounting Team to ensure all specialty practice accounting processes are performed in the most accurate, efficient, and timely manner while fostering a culture of exceptional client service
  • Establish proper specialty practice accounting procedures and controls to ensure invoices are accurately and timely generated, customer payments are properly received, and related contractor and vendor payments are processed and a regular review of data is performed (e.g. accounts receivable balances)
  • Review financial results from each Professional Service branch on a monthly basis and provide commentary and analysis on performance compared to budget and prior year
  • Perform regular review of accounting processes and procedures to identify areas for improvement to ensure accurate, timely and efficient processing under an appropriate control environment
  • Ensure controls include the correct balance of preventative and detective controls
  • Lead, coach, develop and empower direct reports to perform their assigned duties to the fullest and ensure compliance with all policies and procedures
  • Meet regularly with direct reports, and other staff as needed, to understand status of workloads and in process projects, identify developing challenges, develop recommendations for improving workflows and provide needed support and guidance
  • Develop annual goals for each direct report and meet regularly to discuss progress
  • Work with the Corporate Controller to develop integration plans for each specialty practice acquisition prior to conversion
  • Develop standard training modules for all roles and implement a cross-training program
  • Fully document all roles via manuals and process documents
  • Analyze, research, and resolve complex problems
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with internal production teams
  • Participate in and support all related and cross-functional initiatives
  • All other duties pertaining to managing the specialty practice accounting team and/or other duties as assigned from time to time

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8+ years within accounting
  • College degree required
  • CPA preferred
  • Ability to manage and support a remote team
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Impeccable attention to detail
  • Exceptional organization and time-management skills
  • Self-starter, professional and assertive
  • Ability to handle a fast-paced, challenging work environment
  • Demonstrate proficiency in computer applications, esp. Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Microsoft Office Suite as well as comfort working in a paperless environment
