Specialty Lines Underwriter

Develop and maintain a profitable book of Specialty Lines business. We will be considering both in-office and remote associates.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and maintain a profitable book of Specialty Lines business

• Quote and write accounts that meet Specialty Lines Program requirements (based on underwriting guidelines)

• Generate new business sales/production by developing agency relationships and increasing renewal retention

• Price accounts to ensure an underwriting profit

• Process information by preparing policy issuance instructions, organizing files for issuance, and processing documents to assure ensure accurate and timely billing

• Assume accountability for growth and profit for a select territory/region

• Assist Sales Managers in managing agency relationships through:

• Recruiting/appointing new agencies in conjunction with SECURA's agency profile

• Rehab or canceling poor performing agencies

• Soliciting book rollovers

• Developing annual agency plans with each agency

• Providing exceptional customer service through prompt responses

QUALIFICATIONS:

ESSENTIAL:

• 2+ years of direct Specialty Lines or multiline Commercial underwriting experience

• Ability to learn Specialty Lines Program and effectively apply underwriting guidelines to make sound underwriting decisions

• Knowledge and ability to underwrite all lines of Commercial Insurance

• Ability to interpret inspection surveys, loss runs, and financial statements

• Ability to assimilate and analyze agency-management reports

• Excellent problem-solving and strong customer service skills

• Superior verbal and written communication skills

• Strong desk-management skills, including time management and organization/prioritization, as well as the ability to prioritize time-sensitive work items multitask in a fast-paced work environment

PREFERRED:

• Excellent keyboard/PC skills

• Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university

• Completion or active enrollment in INS, AU, CPCU, CIC, or ARM

REQUIRED:

• Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record consistent with the terms in SECURA's Fleet Vehicle Manual

• Travel with overnight stays
