LabCorp is seeking a Specialty Lab Assistant to join our team in Miami, FL. This role works in a high-volume, hospital based environment performing a vital component of the lab. In this position you will work in a fast paced, customer focused, and challenging environment, and will be a part of our overall mission at LabCorp: "Improving Health, Improving Lives".
The work schedule for this position is Monday - Friday 9:30am-6pm.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
Accurately identifies all specimens and part types for each case received.
Accurately identify and label specimens
Meet department activity and production goals
Properly prepare and store specimen samples
Enters all data in an accurate and timely manner
Resolve and document any problem specimens
Receive and sort lab specimens
Ensure all lab equipment is working properly and perform minor instrumentation maintenance
Troubleshoot any specimen-related issues
Maintain a clean and safe work environment
Complete record logs and other administrative duties as requested
Follow all Standard Operating Procedures to ensure safety and quality stand
Requirements:
Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent w/1-2 years of experience
Previous medical/lab or production experience is preferred
Comfortability with handling biological specimens
Ability to accurately identify specimens
Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills
High level of attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask
Ability to work in a fast paced production environment and meet established turn-around times
Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time
Must pass a standardized color blindness test
Flexibility to work overtime as needed
