Specialty Coordinator, Nurse Practitioner

In collaboration with an assigned attending psychiatrist performs diagnostic and therapeutic tasks and renders psychiatric services to provide comprehensive patient care within their scope of practice.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Comprehensive psychiatric evaluations for adult patients to include mental status exam and formulated diagnosis

  • Orders appropriate laboratory studies

  • Prescribes medications as allowed by New York law

  • Formulates a plan of care within the context of nurse practitioner guidelines or after consultation with the collaborative or attending psychiatrist

  • Provides other psychiatric services to include individual and family therapy as appropriate in the CPEP setting

  • Records and documents data necessary to maintain and coordinate psychiatric care

  • Communicates patient's plan of care with appropriate disciplines

  • Practices in accordance with the standards of professional behavior and patient centered care set by Elmhurst Hospital

  • Must have completed master's Nurse Practitioner program in Psychiatry and Mental Health

  • Current New York State Registration as a Nurse Practitioner

  • Current New York State Nurse Practitioner License

  • Board certification as a Nurse Practitioner

  • Must have a flexible schedule working 150 hours over 2 weeks period must include at minimum one weekend day per week
