About this position:
The K-12 Math Specialist position will serve as a content area expert and leader in the exciting work emerging around mathematics in Oregon including but not limited to: math curriculum adoptions, Oregon 2+1 course design, new and revised math standards, and a commitment to evidence based instructional practices that improve outcomes for students - especially students of color, students from low-income communities, English language learners and students with disabilities.

Essential functions:
Train and mentor teachers in evidence based instructional practices that will increase student math achievement.
Demonstrate strong foundational knowledge of strategies for diverse learners and non-native English speakers.
Demonstrate ability to conduct and facilitate effective professional learning for adults - both in person and asynchronously.
Serve as a resource for professional materials including the adoption of a new mathematics curriculum.
Work collaboratively with district and building leaders, educators, and other stakeholders to develop the Oregon 2+1 course design for high school.
Collaborate with other math specialists across the region and state.
Provide consultation to teachers and administrators as requested.
Be open to and responsive to areas of collaboration, specifically STEM and CTE.
Requires frequent travel to schools across Clackamas County and flexibility in scheduling off-site training.

Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.
TSPC licensed educator.
Five years minimum teaching/educational experience.
Knowledge of current and emerging best practices in the areas of elementary and secondary mathematics instruction and assessment.
Experience coaching or mentoring teachers for the purpose of improving student learning and providing feedback in a non-evaluative manner.
Knowledge of current and emerging best practices in teaching adults; demonstrated ability to facilitate groups in meetings and workshop settings.
Ability to provide effective demonstration lessons as well as co-plan and co-teach.
Ability to provide effective coaching, staff development and technical feedback.
Experience with culturally and linguistically diverse student populations.
Knowledge of culturally affirming classroom practices.
Excellent interpersonal skills and flexible and responsive work style.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others.
Ability to work with minimal supervision, communicate clearly, and prioritize and manage multiple projects.

Licensed Salary Schedule which can be seen here. The 2024-25 Licensed Salary Schedule has not yet been released.

Retirement Plan Contributions:
Clackamas ESD employees working 600 or more hours in a calendar year are eligible for the Oregon Public Employee Retirement, or PERS. There are two components to PERS, including the pension, which is primarily funded by CESD and The Individual Account Program, or IAP, which is funded by a six-percent deduction from your paycheck. If you are new to PERS, your PERS deduction will begin automatically after a six-month waiting period.
