Amgen is seeking a talented Software Engineer to work with modern technology stacks that will be used by our business functions to drive Amgen's innovation across Operations. The candidate will join our talented Operations Information Systems (OIS) team to deliver solutions by leveraging best practices in systems development and integrations. The Specialist IS Software Engineer will work as part of an emerging Product Team within the Operations IS (OIS) focusing on Unified Lab Management (ULM) platform accelerating Amgen's product development and commercial manufacturing. The position can be based at one of Amgen's Research sites: Thousand Oaks

  • CA, Tampa, FL, or Cambridge

  • MA campus.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement IS solutions to enable end to end digitization of lab experimentation, simulations and electronic recipe management across Operations.

  • Actively engage with business users to analyze business needs, identify technology solutions gather and document design guided by best practices in Agile development.

  • Collaborate with IS Architects and System Owners to implement an integrated solution across PLM, ERP, MES, and Enterprise Data Lake

  • Perform hands-on development of technology solutions including configuration of commercial software as well as extensions and integrations

  • Serve as lead Solution Engineer: as well as oversee external contractors and consultants

  • Review project deliverables throughout development to ensure quality and traceability to requirements and adherence to all quality management plans and standards. Participate in IS quality validation reviews

  • Oversee the backlog of requirements/user stories

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree

OR

Master's degree and 3 years of application development experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and 5 years of application development experience

OR

Associate's degree and 10 years of application development experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of application development experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience designing, configuring and coding software including custom development and commercial software packages using APIs

  • Experience with integration standards, including Web Services, SOAP, REST

  • Skilled with object-oriented design/development and semantic web standards including OWL

  • Strong database management experience with SQL RDBMS and SPARQL; working with Big Data integration and Analytics a plus

  • Experience integrating solutions with ERP, and MES platforms as plus

  • Good overall understanding of business, manufacturing, and laboratory systems common in the pharmaceutical industry, as well as the integration of these systems through applicable standards.

  • Understanding of FDA regulations governing computer system validation and operation in biotech manufacturing and laboratory areas.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to set the context and present on complex subjects to senior management in a clear and concise manner.

  • Experience building productive working relationships with business clients

  • Strong leadership, project management skills

Amgen is seeking an experienced professional to work in Thousand Oaks, CA as a Specialist IS Business Systems Analyst specializing in data modeling and integration support (also known as "data architect") on a large-scale Regulatory Information Management (RIM) transformation program. The successful person will play a key role in Amgen's RIM product team. Job Summary The core duties of this position are to partner with all internal and external program stakeholders. You will contribute to the success of the program by designing and making fundamental improvements to the RIM data architecture including how information is managed, cross-functional business processes are operated, and work flow is directed to efficiently achieve the integration and orchestration of all activities required for RIM. You will also attend strategic multi-functional meetings to facilitate the optimization of processes through implementation of solutions that enable enterprise-wide RIM data integrations. You also will work and collaborate with the IS Technical Architects to determine the best technical solutions for the program. You will be a participant in all phases of the RIM Product Development Life Cycle (PDLC) including: business client expectation and requirement documentation, process and systems analysis, and articulating system solutions and approaches for addressing business needs pertaining to cross-systems integration requirements and design. This role entails the integration of commercial off the shelf (COTS) application platforms focused on RIM for Life Sciences and systems across R&D and Operations. A deep understanding of RIM processes, incl. authoring is helpful, but not required. You will also be required to gain in-depth business domain knowledge, perform data modeling, facilitate and document business requirements via client sessions and workshops for complex and multi-segment business processes, and help translate and communicate the requirements to the technical design and development team.
