It is the primary responsibility of the Specialist Social Group Sales and Services to provide excellent customer service in the selling of hotel, entertainment, and group dining needs. The position will up-sell and cross-sell property amenities to guests for MGM Resorts International. The position will cater to groups that are coming to MGM Resorts International properties to celebrate special occasions with larger parties. The Specialist will be responsible for detailing every aspect of a group booking, coordinating the details within each department, and being the point person for group leaders. Responsibilities will also include meeting specific revenue and operational sales goals in accordance with the department's standards. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and MGM Resorts International policies, practices and procedures.

  • Provide a positive, empowering, and productive work environment.

  • Responsible for up-sell and cross-sell property amenities to guests company wide.

  • Detail every aspect of a social group booking, coordinate the details within each department and act as point person for the group leader.

  • Greet, interact, and assist guests in a professional manner upon arrival as well as prior to events.

  • Professionally represent the company, department, and staff during pre arrival site tours and meet and greets.

  • Facilitate and execute contracts, deposit collection, and settlements.

  • Plan social group trips from start to finish according to requirements, target audience, suggestions, and objectives to ensure a seamless guest experience.

  • Coordinate, process, and confirm room, show ticket, restaurant, nightclub, or any reservations the guest requests in accordance with departmental standards.

  • Ensure event group reservations for room, show, restaurant, nightlife, and transportation are completed smoothly and effectively.

  • Communicate with group leaders during group planning cycle-often over extended periods of time to ensure expectations are exceeded.

  • Maintain knowledge of all property venues including room, restaurants, spa and entertainment information.

  • Handle and follow through with all guest correspondence/complaints via phone, e-mail, web or any other medium on a same day basis.

  • Work closely with property Group Dining and F&B teams to ensure proper event execution.

  • Achieve and maintain monthly individual and team revenue goals.

  • Perform other job related duties as requested.

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience.

  • At least 1 year of work experience within a relevant field.

  • Working knowledge of the Hotel Industry.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft office.

  • Basic office equipment knowledge including copiers, printers, faxes and telephones.

  • Excellent customer service skills.

  • Able to lead and mentor a team.

  • Have interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts.

  • Professional appearance and demeanor.

  • Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms.

Preferred:

  • Previous experience in Operational Sales, Concierge, or Group Dining.

  • Bilingual, English as the primary or secondary.

  • Previous experience working in a similar resort setting

By understanding their unique stories and needs, you will own their experience to create WOW moments and memories they will carry with them far beyond their stay with us. It is the primary responsibility of the Group Services Specialist to work as the liaison for meeting planners, group clients, and guests associated with a group or special event in all aspects of Group Services, including but not limited to all booking/housing processes. * Perform tasks associated to housing related needs for groups. Such as, but not limited to, building multiple Property blocks and rates in Passkey, Delphi and property management system(s), monitoring pick up reports, inputting reservations, assisting callers, offering up-sell opportunities, and managing sub-block agreements. * Maintain a key sense of ownership and notify supervisors/managers of any potential issues related to inventory, rate, occupancy, or special requests. * Maintain timely communication, both written and verbal, between group contacts, clients, sales managers, and supervisors/management, providing expedient guest resolution within established scope of authority. * Review sales contracts to ensure all contractual obligations are met. * Accurately maintain and monitor rate, availability, inventory levels, bookings, and content information for all channels of distribution. * Ensure all special guest requests are met, not limited to, but including, late check-outs, VIP set-ups, ADA accommodations, hierarchy specifications, etc. * Accommodate, prepare, and distribute all special reporting/tracking requests/needs for group contacts, meeting planners, and management. * Prepare/provide reconciliation of master rooming specifications between Hotel and client lists, ensuring accurate attrition and commission fees are processed. Prepare estimated charges for groups and collects payment as applicable. * Attend pre-conferences, pre-planning, and post-conference meetings with clients and Hotel staff as needed. * Maintain current knowledge/familiarity with all Hotel services/features of MGMRI properties and local attractions. * Perform all other job related duties as requested. Required: * At least 6 months of previous guest service experience. * Ability to operate office equipment, such as telephones, fax machines, etc. * Ability to take initiative and exhibit flexibility. * Ability to be persuasive. * Excellent customer service skills. * Have interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contact. * Professional appearance and demeanor. * Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays. * High school diploma or equivalent. * Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. * Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms.
